The iPhone is currently the best (non-business) cell phone available to American (or North American) consumers, and it isn't really close.
The Blackberry's are still the best business phones because of security and email features. They are top notch at mailing groups and newsfeeds and so forth.
But there is nothing that compares with the iPhone's responsive touchscreen and the ability to surf the net anywhere, in almost the exact same format as you would with a regular computer. I have browsed Spurstalk hundreds of times from my iPhone 3G and it's always a very cool experience.
For the record, I can MMS other people with my iPhone, you just have to know how to do it. I can also copy-paste, record video (recording on the iPhone is actually quite excellent in quality!), and data tether to my laptop. I can surf the net from my car in the middle of nowhere as long as I have an EDGE carrier signal.
If you have an iPhone and you haven't jailbroken it, you're missing out on at least 50% of it's potential.
