so he can't ever take his wife out of town unless it's business related?
Is this really hard for you to get? Me giving my opinion about how much money this guy spent on "date night' you think I am saying he can't ever take his wife out of town. Such drama! The guy spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for a "date night" on us. Let me say this one more time then I am bailing out on this conversation. If he wants to see a braodway play sooooo bad wait until he is in NYC on business. Priorities my man. He is President of the US of A. Spending this kind of our money is irresponsible. Wasteful. Arrogant. He is out of town all the time. Plenty of chances to take his wifey out on "date nights" away from DC.

don't let anyone ever accuse you of being a romantic.
If ur ideal of romance is spending other peoples money, alot of other peoples money, I don't want to be romantic. Obama getting his mack on should never cost the American people hundreds of thousand of dollars.

Don't stop there. He shouldn't get paid for any work done after he leaves office either. Any money made after that time should be sent directly to the Treasury.
I have stopped here. If you want to talk about something other than 'date night' start a new thrread. No more spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on "date nights"

It's that simple for you. Hopefully he won't be spending all sorts of crazy tax payers cash while doing it. I have a issue with that.

the nature of the job requires expensive security measures.

Not sure what part of that you don't understand.

If you feel that presidents should only be allowed to enjoy themselves out of town if they also get some work done, then write your congressman, demand change to that 'policy' and vent your frustrations out to him/her about it instead of to a basketball message board.

    here's a blogger's rough estimates on Bush's trips:

At a bare minimum, for the flights alone, Bush’s 77 vacation trips to Crawford cost us $226,072 per trip. That’s $17,407,544 so he could ride his bicycle in the woods and clear brush for the cameras.

wow, that plus 12 billion in cash that somehow vanished adds up to quite a large tab.

ing hypocrite!!! You are on the same message board writting about all sorts of other than basketball... CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you vent your frustrations to Kori and/or Timvp to close down the plolitical forum and all other threads that have nothing to with basketball or disipline yourself to only go to baskeball threads. Bet you can't!

I did not say he should not enjoy himself. Please tell me where I suggested that or better yet show me where I wrote that. I do give my opinion to elective officials. I also vote. I also pay my taxes. This is not just a basketball forum, it's a political forum. If you don't like it ,don't give us all the ing opinions you have been giving us all this time. What a ing bag.

You want to put restrictions on the way he enjoys himself in his leisure time. Do I really need to show you where you said that you want to restrict the way he enjoys his free time?

I was simply giving you a suggestion as to how to channel some of that anger.

If you want to take your hate of Obama out on me, feel free, although writing your congressman might be a better use of your time....

again, it was just a simple suggestion like "you need to chill the fcuk out" would be.

Is there a time you criticized Bush for it?

    Link, please.
Still waiting for the link to your rabid criticism of Bush's vacation/recreation spending.

From what I remember when Bush was going on his vacations, the conservatives were saying he's a wartime president and under a lot of pressure. He needs his down time to better protect our country.

For anyone who is interested, this is a great example of a strawman fallacy

Person A: He is spending way too much of tax payer dollars on a date many people would consider excessive; maybe he isn't the common, everyday man that we thought he was.

Person B: Oh, so he can't take his wife out on a date eh?

That is a big straw man.

I never thought he was a common everyday man.

It isn't a strawman fallacy once your realize that A) he's the President and B) no matter where he goes, he's going to cost us a lot of money. The secret service protection, along with the vehicles required, do not come cheap.

So, if he is ever to take a date, it will of necessity cost the taxpayers a good amount of money.

The question is whether you feel he should be allowed to do so, or not.

"many people" might think that the cost of protecting former presidents is excessive.

this is just another example of the RNC trying to criticize Obama for every move he makes. I'm surprised they don't have someone watching what time he punches in to the Oval Office in the morning.

if bush would give back the 12 billion in cash, there would be more than enough money to protect obama.

Not the way Obama goes through money. We are over a trillion dollars and counting. What is this, his 5 month in office? Soon the dollar will be called the yuan
