In the year or two I have been on this board I have made this arguement for Wilt at least 5 times. Wilt was just dominate. And I don't want to hear it was because he played against 6 foot white guys, that was the 40s. When Wilt would go up against Kareem in the 70s (When Wilt was in his 30s and Kareem was in his prime) Wilt would tear up Kareem. And this was after Wilt lost some of his athletic ability.

Basically all the things that made Kareem and Hakeem so good were all in Wilt's play books, only twice as good. The only reason people don't understand this is because Hakeem and Kareem traslate easier to today's game as it has only been a short while since they have played.
Actually i read a stat that said in wilt last season Kareem averaged over 40 against him and Wilt averaged just 14.
Now with that said i only put Kareem above Wilt on my team because of longevity

That's why I'd also lean towards Kareem as the best C all-time, but Wilt vs Kareem is practically a coin-flip to me.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't have Duncan on the all time first team. Outside of being slow, unathletic, terrible 1 on 1 defense (see Amare 40ppg series, not guarding Dirk), and a terrible outside shooter, all he had was good help rotations and a good shot from one spot on the whole floor, the bank shot. Oh, and the uncanny ability to pick up the pussiest whistles after bricking layup after layup. I think TD misses more point blank shots than any "superstar" I've ever seen.

    1st team

    Pg-Magic
    Sg-Jorda
    Sf-Lebron
    Pf-Malone
    C-Chamberlain

    2nd team

    Pg-Thomas
    Sg-Bird
    Sf-Pippen
    Pf-Barkley
    C-Kareem

    3rd team

    Pg-Cousy
    Sg-Kobe
    Sf-Robertson
    Pf-Wes Unseld
    C-Hakeem

    4th team

    Pg-Stockton
    Sg-Drexler
    Sf-Pippen
    Pf-Garnett
    C-Shaq
You are either trolling, an idiot, or both.

first Malone and barkley both have stated TD is the best PF of all time.

Your 3rd team Robertson was a PG, not a SF, Wes Unsled was a center.

On your 4th team, if you are going to change player positions you need to put Dr. J in front of Drexler. The Doctor literally carried the ABA and pretty much forced the NBA to accept the ABA-NBA merger.

Other than that solid list IMO.

Wilt in his prime was actually the best outside defender probably of all time. Like I said, Wilt was the fastest quickest strongest highest jumping player the NBA has ever seen. Had the stat for blocked shots been kept Wilt would have averaged well over 10 a game for a career. Plus Wilt could actually block Kareem's sky hook with his head. I have a picture I will have to scan onto this web site just to show you guys how high he could get easily, but I'll describe it for now. Wilt is next to a 7 foot pole and on a standing jump his waist is above the pole. Not to mention Wilt ran track at a high level, he also jumped 7 feet on the high jump back before the much easier way used today was invented.

Don't waste my time with your idiotic posts. Wilt went up against the Boston Celtics teams of the 60s that had 3 future all of famers at any given time. I'm talking first ballot hall of famers. Also in the 72 finals Wilt scored 24 points and grabbed 29 rebounds with a broken right hand and a sprained left hand to close out the championship.
Theres's nothing wrong with Wilt being the second or third best center of all time...

Baylor...Bird... either over the other is actually arguable. I give the nod to Baylor due to the obsticles he encountered over his career and being the first real high flyer. Bird was amazing in his work ethic and skills. Baylor was innovative for his time. Again, either way you go is arguable.

I'd say Baylor is better than Bird, but Bird had a stronger career. Baylor was in the finals 9 times and walked away empty each time I believe. Maybe it was a little less than that. I know Jerry West was 1-7 in the finals.

Fun fact, Baylor was the first player to score more than 60 in a playoff game. In fact he would have several scoring les had he not played in the same time as Wilt.
Baylor was 0-7 in the finals.
    West was 1-8, not 1-7

Agreed. But i was posting as best player and that didnt have les as a factor. If that was the case guys like Barkley and Malone dont get consideration. If the Lakers in the 60's werent going against a team with 4 or 5 hall of famers then Baylor and west each have 8 or so les.

Wilt deserves all the praise he should get he was the real deal.

7'3, long arms, with a nice touch. He would dominate in today's game too. Maybe he wouldn't be as dominant, but you guys are really underrating too much the people he had to go up against in his day. They really weren't that much worse than today's defenders. They were smaller but a lot more scrappier.

In short, Wilt would be the most dominant big man easily if he played today

It seems like most of the smart posters on here have the same 5 I have

    Magic- PG
    Jordan- SG
    Bird- SF
    DUncan- PF
    Kareem- C

I could see Hakeem Olajuwon at C but he didn't sustain his effort nearly as long as Kareem. And the sky-hook was a shot that couldn't be defended, so what's to argue with?

I never saw Baylor play, so I was going on stories by other players and clips and such.

Unfortunately his GM skills are sorely lacking.
