    Any guesses?

    Spurs are at:

    Duncan - 22.3
    Manu - 10.7
    TP - 12.6
    RJ - 14.2
    Mason - 3.78
    Bonner - 3.25
    George Hill - 1.1

    Total for 7 players - $68 M.

Ouch. You guys think the owner is going to go all in? Trade away draft picks and sign a few minimum players? One of big 3 might be gone? Throw caution and go hogwild with the MLE/LLE on July 1st?

I got that off Hoopshype and I know that site's salary section isn't 100% accurate but that's the best I could do.

bowen will return for the vet minimum, so our other hole at big man can be filled with the MLE. Here's to a defensive minded one.

About the Big 3. This Jefferson trade, coupled with Manu being in a contract year yet his future health status unclear, lends me to believe the Spurs shopped Manu and didn't find any great deals, so they're waiting til closer to the trade deadline to dangle the bait again (while assessing Manu's health - a fully healthy Manu will be worth more than the one we have today.)

Why would one of the Big 3 be gone?

They'll pick Bowen back up for the minimum, hope Mahinmi pans out, Finley will probably pick up his option. They'll take a look at some young guys (M Williams/Hairston).. Then probably pick up a vet big or look to trade Bonner/Mason.

    Bowen resigns for the minimum.

Finley picks up his option and becomes a fixture at the end of the bench.

The Spurs will look to add either Hairston, Gist, the 37th pick, or someone else.

Mason, Bonner, and possibly Hill will be packaged for a big man.

In don't see much "ouch" here with that lineup. Even if we just rounded out the roster with minimum salary players, that's pretty sweet.

    Ouchless.

Finley's contract isn't a player option though is it? It's a qualifying offer so they can just let him walk right?

One does not often see qualifying offers for 13-year vets.

Take the luxury tax hit now then get that money back in a few years by going into cheapskate mode once Duncan hangs it up.

No, it's a player option, and I'm starting to like the idea of having Finley as a 2nd/3rd string SF. Even if he's backing up Jefferson, it's MUCH better than Finley starting and playing 30 mpg.

It looks like what we spoke about came to fruition

Avoid 2010 rush and go now.

It basically works out as if the Spurs signed RJ with the MLE.

I know we'd all like to hope that when Duncan hangs it up they can land a new franchise player immediately and keep on rolling, but that's the exception not the rule. The Spurs have been incredibly blessed to be one of the few teams in history to have been able to pull that off. I'm certainly not going to complain if that happens, but in all likelihood the Spurs are headed towards some rough years once Duncan hangs it up.

Not officially -- but they may not want to spend it all now.

I'm assuming its because they could possibly go over the tax threshold to fill out the rest of the roster?
