Spotted returning from the trip at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, Wednesday morning, the Republican governor told The State he had considered hiking the Appalachian Trail after his state's busy legislative season ended but instead decided differently.
"I wanted to do something exotic. It's a great city," Sanford said, referring to Buenos Aires.
The governor will speak with reporters Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET, his office announced.
Sanford's staff and family seemed to be in the dark about his whereabouts. Sanford also said no one else accompanied him on the trip, the paper reported. The Republican governor and possible 2012 contender told the newspaper only that he took a drive along the coastline on his trip.
Just bizarre.

You mean, apart from the fact that just flying to Argentina without telling your family or anyone in your staff is pretty erratic?
It even states further in the article that the police feel the governor should at least tell them that he's leaving so they don't suspect foul play, and so the lieutenant gov can handle things while he's away.
He's a big Spurs fan and wanted to personally console Oberto through these trying days.

The kind of person who has someone waiting for him in that country, someone he didn't want his family to know about.
I'm assuming he has children. That's what's really weird about this... he was gone on Father's Day and didn't tell his family where he was.
Spending 2 or 3 days driving the coast? That's an iffy one.
Unplugging for a bit after an intense showdown is one thing... but totally going off grid for 4 days, especially when you're the governor of a state, is another.

I always try to look at all possibilities. I'm an "outside the box" thinker. I do not confine my beliefs to what I'm told to believe. I'll even play the devils advocate at times.
He was probably chasing some Argie tail. We have some nice looking broads over there.
I love taking a day off and just driving up and down highway 16 through the Hill Country. Packing up for a couple days and going solo into the wilderness is a guy thing.
Sounds like nothing more than a "Find anything we can to bash the South Carolina Governor because of his vocal opposition to Obama's stimulus plan and a potential GOP candidate later down the road" reach.
What is father's day? You tell your dad "happy fathers day", maybe even give him a little gift or dinner and that is it. It's over. Big deal. I don't really celebrate any State-deemed holidays like they different from any other random time I want to have a good time with family or friends.

he's probably got a secret family in Argentina. Most powerful men have at least one secret family.
i'm surprised his expense report isn't plastered everywhere. i'm assuming he picked up the tab. ??? get the facts and we'll go from there. dismissing his presidential bid now is stupid. i can parallel that nonsense with the way the obamacons fire back saying "he's only been in office 5 months" when critics say nothing he's doing is working. obviously obamacons are blind to that. either way, who cares. investigate it. don't insinuate it.

You know that must be true. He must have paid for it himself, and the media has nothing real to complain about, so they are fishing.
They suggest his family didn't know, but they don't say it as fact. They let lib s assume his family didn't know. Very possible they knew, and purposely played dumb to any media requests. I know if I told people the actions of the women I know, they would disown me. You don't tell others about friends and families actions. Not anyone in the public eye.

I enjoy a nice country drive and some time off too, but come on. A governor has got to let someone know.
