Cue all the Finley threads if he sabotaged a possible trade that could have landed them a first round pick.
I wonder if the Spurs told him they'd trade him if he picked his option up? If so then I don't blame Finley for waiting to decide.

If he even thinks there's a slight chance they're going to trade him why not just opt out already? Just because they couldn't trade him on draft night doesn't mean they can't trade him down the line.
As long as I don't wake up tomorrow and find out that they've traded Blair to the Knicks in a deal for Wilcox.
I'm guessing he's just getting as much as he can from Pop, before the relationships inevitable end.
Ya know, like when you've been dating someone that you've been over with for weeks, if not months, but the comfort of the situation and free has you ride it out a little longer than you probably should...![]()
I'm looking at our roster, and I can't figure out how Finley should ever be on the floor. Last year he played huge minutes because A) Manu was hurt, B) Pop's affair with Finley, and C) because Pop refused to play Hill minutes at the 2.
We have the following guys who play the 2, and play it better than Finley...Manu, Mason, RJ (although RJ is a 3), and Hill (although Hill is a 1/2). Now McClinton comes in, who shoots it better than Finley, and who can play serious defense. Finley hasn't been able to really play D for the past four years.
So even if he picks up the option, he won't see the floor.
Please, somebody tell me he won't see the floor.
Someone correct me, but when have the Spurs had a press conference to introduce their second round picks? Would seem pointless since they aren't guaranteed to make the team. Who knows...
I don't really want to see Fin back either with this team and I like McClinton's upside too but lets not make a late 2nd round pick a better shooter than a guy whose done it in the league for 10 plus years and still has one of the prettiest strokes in the league.
You don't think Blair will make the team?
They'll still be signed to play through the summer.
I think its just the FO being classy about it and making the new players and their families feel good. Nothing lost but a lot of goodwill gained.
Actually, I think he will make the team, I am just saying though. Not many of the second rounders have stuck for the Spurs in recent times for them to have a press conference I would think. Who knows though. I do remember they had a press conference for Hill last year.
