Just received my new green card today, good for 10 years. When you add up forms, fingerprinting, copies of stuff, etc, you're a little over $600. But that's if you do it yourself, without help from a lawyer and you already had a green card approved before.
It was more money when I had a H1B and had to renew it.
And for non-married people that apply (through skilled worker programs) you almost always need help from a lawyer, and that will raise the cost considerably.

Having gone through the entire process (started 10 years ago), I can safely say the 6 month expectation is impossible under the current system.
Only 600? Not too bad. The forms were like, 1100 to 1400 for my wife to get hers, plus 2500 for the lawyer.

    ing Obama...it's all HIS fault!

    http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/arc..._06/018771.php

"This is almost like, 'I don't give a damn, the country's going to in a handbasket, I just want out of here,'" Limbaugh said. "[Sanford] had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn't want any part of it; he lost the battle. He said, 'What the . I mean, the federal government's taking over -- what the , I want to enjoy life.'"

Limbaugh added, "The point is, there are a lot of people whose spirit is just -- they're fed up, saying, 'To with it, I don't even want to fight this anymore, I just want to get away from it.'"

A listener apparently sent Limbaugh an email during the program, asking if he was kidding about the White House's economic policies being responsible for Sanford's affair. "No!" he said, adding that the governor may have realized, "The Democrats are destroying the country; we can't do anything to stop it."

Sanford met candidate Obama over a year ago and knew what was gonna happen. He went to Argentina as a preemptive strike.

    Nothing to see here.

It was kinda awkward listening to him today. He was bringing up prescription drugs and pain killers and it was kinda weird.

Thats a ing bull perspective of the highest order. I have gotten no further in this thread upon reading this.

He is an elected public official who just-so-happens to hold an office that numbers 50 total in this country.

He is tasked with the day-to-day operation of a state in this union. You think CEOs of major corporations can take unannounced vacations?! no. Most of those CEOs arent dealing with nearly the money a governor does.

Him being indignant about it is even worse. Its like celebrities ing about paparazzi, when politicians about the media, they should have looked at the job description.

You were elected by the people, the media's job is to inform those people. When the highest ranking state official goes mysteriously missing, thats news, thats life.

Also, Buenos Aires. Congratulations, South Carolina, you elected a pedophile.
    What the ?

    3. South America isnt exactly the most lawful place in the world to visit. Its probably beautiful (from pics Ive seen), obviously like any country, nearly all of its citizens are very decent people, just really average place to live with beautiful scenery. But their law enforcement is nowhere near as effective or uncorruptable as other parts of the world. They're also generally more tolerant to what we in America would call "sexual deviance". Not children, per say, but more transves es, pros ution and orgies. In a place of lawlessness, corruption and sexual deviance (all by American standards), it isnt unthinkable that one could find a place to...well, be a sick ing pedophile who deserves to die.
Orgies? sexual deviance? WTF!! seriously, don't spew around bull you've haven't got a clue about. I don't care what ing point you're trying to make.

I'll give you our government officials and police department are pretty ing corrupt, but you're blowing entirely out of proportion here.

You know what the funny thing is, I'm pretty aquainted with both American culture and Argentinian culture and let me tell you, American culture is FAR more sexual than Argentinian culture, BY A ING MILE!

The whole "sexual deviance by AMerican standards" is bull of such magnitude I don't even know where to ing start!

You talk as if in Argentina, molesting a child is acceptable behavior. Let me tell you, you're wrong on all counts. Stop being ignorant.

Maybe it's american propaganda or something, but supposedly Buenos Aires has a very active sexual night-life. I've seen a couple do entaries on it just flipping through channels.

    Lots of internet hits too

Of course I have no idea. I'd trust someone's word from the area first though.

When your city has 25 million people like BA there's bound to be nooks and cranny's where that kind of stuff is rampant.

Let's not act like LA and NY are paragons of lawfulness.

Politicians don't have morals, otherwise they wouldn't be politicians.

Just inexcusable behavior for anyone, much less a politician though.

I went to high school in both USA and South America.

In South America, a typical high school girl will a guy that plays in the basketball team. In USA, a typical high school girl will the whole basketball team including the coach
