Sheed would be an amazing pick up. Not sure what you mean by in bolded part above.
If your suggesting that somehow we'd have to give up picks in order to get him, remember he's an UFA...

Great player to have in the short run as we wait for Tiago to come over in the next season(s).

If the FO is contacting Sheed before July 1st they are fined and draft picks are taken. It is 100% against the rules to contact FA's before then.

It's been stated before. He wants $8 million, but if it comes down to retire or get paid an extra $10-11 million over the next two years with the MLE on a championship contender, he probably still goes with the latter. He seems to have his choice of other contenders (Clev, Orlando, Boston?) to sign with though.

He's exactly the missing piece the Spurs need, a defensive big man who won't be a liability on offense, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Sheed never " stated" anything. It was all hear-say.

    StoneBuddha,

I disagree. Rasheed is talented, no doubt but he's an engima.

I would prefer Gortat. He can defend, block shots, and is 6"11. The Spurs need someone who can protect the rim behind Duncan.

Rasheed worries me.....and it's easy to say he would be motivate to play with the Spurs. But, I have seen enough Pistons games (during the playoffs the last few seasons) where he has melted down emotionally. That's unacceptable as a Spur.

    We'll we see.....

Sheed is motivated under a coach he respects, He didn't resect flip and Curry.

    Muser,

    Maybe....but that's no lock!

And at 35.....who you are who you are.

I see the upside on bringing in Rasheed...but there is the other side as well. And it's not small either.

Does anyone have the stats regarding technical fouls per team this past season? As the team the Spurs have to be among the teams with the least amount, right?

OK, so we get one Super motivated year from Sheed. That would be awesome, don't you think? After that if he loses interest, then we have effectively bought time until Splitter gets here...

    CGD,

    You make a good point!

If Sheed is motivated then the Spurs have a legit shot to win it all.

I'm just worried his enigmatic traits will pop up at the wrong time during the season and the playoffs.

As you can read....I'm still ambivalent about Sheed coming to SA. I like Gortat and at least I know what he will bring every night.

However, Sheed is extremely talented! Hmmm........

I love it when people pretend to be a fan of one team when really they're a fan of that team's hated rival, so they try to hate on that team making themselves a contender while their team isn't doing anything. It's beautiful.

As soon as he got off the plane they called him for a technical for cursing at the humidity.

At least it's not as bad here as it is in Jamaica.

Just heard on ESPN 1250 "the Zone" in San Antonio that he and Duncan are really, really tight. Obviously, the Spurs FO cannot have any contact with him before 7/1. However, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Tim could've invited Sheed to town for the weekend to hang out. If this is true, that would put him here early next week in preparation for the July 1st.
I'm surprised Duncan228 hasn't chimed in about that yet. I've known for a long time that they were good friends. Sheed has openly stated in the past that he would love to play alongside Timmy before it's all over.

Your got one guy in duncan on the decline although still very good but no longer a dominate force the other sheed way past his prime who is only good for a few threes and some rebounds...hardly worth for other teams to be worried.

Glad someone sees the situation for what it is. If Sheed is actually in SA (and I don't see how anyone could confuse Rasheed with someone else), it's not just to hang out or get on a connecting flight (that was hilarious by the way ). Why else would he be here a week and half before signing day??? He probably got here even faster after finding out about the RJ deal. I also find it funny that numerous media outlets are reporting that the Magic and other teams are going to offer Rasheed, and they have no idea he's in SA chillin' with Timmy. Unless it strictly comes down to money, he's a Spur in less than two weeks IMO.

P.S. I don't see the Magic re-structuring Hedo's contract and also signing Sheed. It's one or the other in IMO.
