I don't know that I would give him the full MLE...in this economy I would try to low-ball him. Any other year he could easily command the full MLE, but yeah, I would definitely take him back.

i always got him and howard mixed up
damn dallas had some good teams like 4 years ago or so
I did too....they both gave the Spurs fits defensively as well. May he rot in Indiana.
yah there rookie season i was like who is the 1st rounder and whos the pick up and daniels had a better start for dallas than howard so it was kinda confusing![]()
Same thing happened with Parker and Hill.
EDIT: Meant to say Ime and Tony, but they actually just look more alike from certain angles while Daniels and Howard had similar games and such.
im still confused as to why dallas gave him to indy.
Same here.
Because with the departure of Keith Van Horn, we had to fill the Tall White Stiff That Shoots Threes And Does Nothing Else position. Enter Austin Croshere. Previous players in this role included KVH and the Raefist, Raef LaFrentz.
They needed to clear cap space to pay Josh Howard, so they traded Daniels' 6 million per year contract who was there 4th/5th wing at the time for Croshere ( an expiring deal). Daniels had 3-4 years left on that contract.
I still think it was not that bad of a contract for what he is, but he also fell out of favor with Bible Thumper Avery for his weed-loving, agnostic ways. I will say that of course he had a nice season in a contract year. He's a of a lot better than the they roll out at SG right now. Sign him for most of the MLE, get some other veteran bag with what's left. Flip Stack/Damp/Terry for something different and good. Stack and Damp have the attractive expiring/buyouts, while they can sell high on Terry and give his new team a reigning 6th Man and team-oriented fan fave. I think that trio should be able to fetch an All Star and one solid rotation player at least.
I would love to turn Stack/Damp into Okafor and a S'N'T Raymond Felton.
C: Okafor
PF: Dirk
SF: Howard
SG: Terry's replacement
PG: Kidd
Bench: Bass, Big TBD, Barea, Wing TBD, Wing TBD
This is a work in progress obviously, but if I'm Mark/Donnie, this is how I am looking at the roster right now.
keep dreaming... or taking lsd.
I'd take Marquis back for either a small portion of the MLE or the full LLE. God forbid the Mavs would want to sign a SG/SF that can score the basketball, create off the dribble, bring the ball up the court, rebound, play average defense, get into the paint, hit floaters and runners...
Where does Rodrigue Boobs fit into this?
He will be on the inactive list or in the D-league the whole season...Book it. That was BS that this piece of player will make the roster out of training camp. We should have signed Khalid El-Amin and that dude would have clowned BoBo
I liked that Taliq Abdul-Wahad scrub Dallas had a few years ago.
MBT is selling this guy as the next Tony Parker, Devin Harris, or at worst the next Leandro Barbosa. Well in their rookie years, Parker had 9.2 PPG/29 MPG, Barbosa 7.9 PPG/21 MPG, and Harris 5.7 PPG/14 MPG. They were all regular parts of the rotation and contributed something of value.
Can Boobs do that? Extremely doubtful. If he comes close to what Devin averaged his rookie year, it's a huge success for him. And we all thought Harris was a big-time bust after his rookie year.
At least Harris dominated an elite conference for a few years. Bobo couldnt do at a low level French league.
The MBT are in' idiots....there only ones that believe the BS that comes out of their mouths. I dont care if the dude has a 40in vertical or if he is just as fast as Devin. I want to know can he shot, pass, dribble, run an offense, etc. You can find tons of guys that are quick, can jump and are freak athletes at a in track event, I want basketball players
I would love that. But Harris would be a better addition. Why did we do this stupid stuff with getting rid of Harris and Daniels for Kidd and Stackhouse?
Um.....they got Stackhouse and Harris in the same trade.
They got rid of Daniels to give Stackhouse more minutes. They got rid of Harris to get Kidd. Dallas's FO is the biggest joke in the nba.
Stackhouse averaged more minutes per game in 2006 (27.7) than he did in 2007 (24.1), the year after they traded Marquis.
And the Suns front office is way dumber.
They got rid of Daniels because Avery didn't like him personally. You wouldn't know this because you were a Bulls fan back then.
