great movies are not made on opening night and weekend, it is all about word of mouth. Opening night and weekend no one knows what to expect out of a movie, so for a movie like transformers , a big blockbuster event, everyone goes to see it during opening night and the weekend, but it will not I repeat will not make as much as the first one.
I actually hated the first transformers movie, didn't like the comedy style or the zoomed in action. But after watching TF2, Transformers 1 is awesome. There was a well balance of action, drama, and comedy in the first one compared to the overly acted comedy between Sam's parents, the action was boring, the intro to the movie sucked, didn't help me get excited at all.
I was actually hyped for the revenge, from the trailers it looked like it was better then the first, wished they would have put in some of that so called over acting between the parents and Sam in the trailer, I would of had a different mind set.
I even liked most of Michael Bay's films: The Rock, Armageddon, and Bad Boys.
I'm glad I didn't go to the midnight screening of the movie, because I even barely fell asleep when I went to a showing in the afternoon on Wednesday.
I'm hoping someone else directs Transformers 3. Maybe Spielberg can take the reigns away from Bay.

It's supposed to be a good, blockbuster, action packed movie, nothing more.
Plus, the visual effects are amazing.
I may be biased since I was a big fan of the original cartoon as a kid

Probably don't buy it if you expect anything beyond big robots beating up, accompanied by poorly written 4th grade level dialogue.
Left is exactly right. The rest of you guys are Michael Bay haters. I mean it's like you want an Oscar worthy picture from him. The man makes in' action movies. Do you understand that? Action movies. Not stupid overrated artsy independe movies that no one sees. You guys are just haters because you hate it that Transformers is an extremely popular and successful movie/tv show/toys/etc....
Besides, how can you hate a movie that deals with the battle between good and evil?
You know, eating human feces isn't so bad if you just turn your "taste" off. I mean, quit expecting gourmet, it's . You know what you're getting into. Just chew it, swallow it, and be okay with the fact that you are eating . , millions of other mammals eat their own , it must not be that bad.
Actions, explosions...yeaaah. That's about all that Michael Bay is capable of.
this film sucks on so many levels, the story if you can call it a story is non existent. Over the top explosions where nobody gets hurt, lame jokes...
my nephew loved it though.
these type of movies blow! it's like tiny toons vs spumco, captain planet vs the marry chorus, dream works vs pixar, etc... this type of movie and how it's been made is just poor compared to how it could have been. same with anything these days taken from our past like spiderman, xmen, etc...
there's no quality in films these days. i mean take a look at the classic badass indiana jones and compare that with the they produced last yr. the masses are impressed with graphics but they tend to throw the story, the characters, and everything that really matters to the wayside. cinematography these days and the people who keep destroying our past gems just to make a quick buck.
So does Michael Mann. But I don't hate Michael Mann films. I wonder how that's possible?
It's possible to make big action blockbusters that aren't completely re ed. See Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Star Trek, etc.
