I think the Lakers will re-sign Ariza and Odom, but I think the Spurs are definitely some stiff compe ion for LA, even w/o Rasheed. Lakers are really deep, and I hope someone steals Ariza/Odom from them, but I doubt; since they did not draft anyone and acquired some cash over a draft day trade. I think our starting lineup has an advantage over their starters.

If we pick up Sheed and/or a significant big, we're going to be tough as to beat.

If the Spurs get Rasheed, and Cleveland plays subpar, they'll get a ring. I'm way more worried about King James than Kobe.
I don't agree at all. Our attention should always be squarely put on the defending champs. As much as I hate to say it, the Lakers are still the team to beat.

Moronic thread - with a healthy Ginobili + Parker and Duncan Spurs always a threat add some firepower and they can beat anyone anytime any place.

    Chill.

The signing of Ariza and Odom could help the Lakers alot. The problem is this... who the do the Lakers have that can stop Parker? Ariza cannot guard both RJ and Ginobili meaning Kobe is going to have to defend someone.

The Lakers aren't invincible. They were taken to 7 games by an injured Rockets team. The Lakers are the NBA champs yes, but they needed alot of luck to get there.

Instead of comparing starting lineup, let's compare the best at each position if the rosters stay exactly as it is, but the spurs keep finley, and the addition of 'Sheed, just for the sake of this thread.

PG: Parker / Fisher - Huge Adv Spurs
SG: Ginobili / Kobe - Adv Lakers
SF: Jefferson / Ariza - Adv Spurs
PF: Duncan / Gasol - Adv Spurs
    C: 'Sheed/ Bynum - Adv Spurs

So when you look at, the spurs definitly have the upper hand, no doubt. Kobe is the only spot where the lakers shine above the spurs. Now let's look at the role players/bench players

PG: Hill & McClinton/ Farmar & Brown - Adv Lakers
SG: Mason / Vuja - Adv Spurs
SF: Finley/ Luke Walton - Adv Spurs
PF: Mahinmi & Blair / Odom - Huge Adv Lakers
    C: Bonner / Powell - Adv Spurs

What was the point of all that? Your guaranteed lakers victory is dumb, anything could happen.

EDIT: Damn, that lineup for the spurs looks pretty sexy actually lol

This guy's as bad as KBP..everyone knows he's a Lakers fan pretending to be a Spurs fan just to bash the Spurs, and yet he continues to do it. It must suck to have no life.

If talent were the sole determination of champions, the Spurs would have won zero les.

tHE kOBE sHAQ lakers would have 0 too, they played the Pacers, Kings, Blazers who all had more talent top to bottom.

Without Rasheed and just a fill in center the spurs will not beat a healthy Laker team but with Rasheed it will be a dogfight between the two teams and a toss up.

Those Laker teams owe two of their championships to Spur injuries, so that's not really much of a discussion, but the point is well-made: If talent were the sole determination of champions, either the Blazers or the Kings would have been duking it out in the WCF for several years in a row back then.

You guys call him a troll but he was dead on in his predictions for the '09 playoffs. Maybe he's just saying the things you all don't want to hear, but deep down believe to be true.

what exactly was he dead on about? He changed his story and team multiple times, slobbed on everyone's nuts and even after big moves, continues to hate on his 'favorite' team.

he's a ing troll, regardless what other trolls like yourself interject.

here's another news flash: the spurs may not win the west even if they sign sheed and the lakers don't re-sign odom and ariza.

newflash #2: there are no guarantees in life period.

Good Gawd, give me a healthy Manu and Tim and I like our chances against most everyone right now. Throw in Sheed and I'd say our chances get even that much better.
