Maybe this isn't worth a new post, but I know that some have followed Skip Bayless' Spur fandom over the past few years. Last year Skip finally gave up on the team he always called "my Spurs."

This morning, however, on his ritual debate on ESPN's "First Take" Skip pointed to the Laker fan opposite him and said:

Doug, one year from today you won't be wearing any Laker pin anymore. Let me quote the great Hans Gruber(?) in "Die Hard," "We are back in business" because my Spurs, as in "we," are back in business . . .
Skip then went on to talk about how the Spurs "stole" RJ and how Blair destroyed Thabeet in Hartford and how Manu finally has a whole summer of rest.

Finally, he said, "Ths team will win the West next year."

Good to see Skip back on board and referring to the team as "my Spurs" again.

Once you jump off the bandwagon, you're 86ed.

lol Skip. He is incredibly annoying but it's hard to hate someone who likes the Spurs so much.

I too, liked Skip's takes until he got decisively anti-spur. I mean seriously, I know nowadays its all about that spin you put on it, but more journalists should be positive on issues rather than calling the Spurs dead in the water, for example, and at the end of the road only to be made huge fools less a month later.

TBQH, I think Skip only does it because he likes to piss everyone else off...and the quickest way to do that on ESPN is to take the Spurs over the Lakers.

That just goes to show you how bad BSPN is, when Bayless is considered "not bad".

I don't care for "bandwagoning" myself though it's done quite often. Speaking of bandwagon, I was reading on the sports pages how Vitale aka y V
was excited by the Spurs trade and the Shaq trade to the Cavs. He's already predicting a Cavs-Spurs finals rematch with the Cavs prevailing....

While the RJ aquisition was an definite need and upgrade for the Spurs, I still am not ready to declare them 2010 Champs. There's too much that may happen before this can be a reality.

i have vivid memories of him getting all excited when dampier did his post game parker speach.

i wrote him this- which he obviously didn't reply to

    Skip,
In regards to the NBA I usually find yr comments to be ill-informed. I don't understand why you get so animated when it's yr turn to speak because what you say makes me feel like you only watched the highlights and read the box score. I haven't cared to comment until this morning when I heard yr thoughts on Erick Dampier's statement. Dallas played well in game 1. They played poorly in game 2. "ErickA" Dampier is a numbskull for thinking the solution isn't simply to play well in game 3, to solidify their defense, and make adjustments offensively. Tony Parker looked at his team, looked at his matchup with the Mavericks, and picked up his game so they'd have a chance to win the series. That's what 4-time All-Stars/Finals MVPs do. If that guy that is on the other team and yr an any-time all star, an MVP, a 5pt/7rb starting center, or a self proclaimed, "2nd best center in the NBA behind Shaquille O'Neal" the compe ive thing to do would be to step up your game to something like 15 pt, 12 rb/gm and hold Duncan from scoring 20/10 and the inevitable triple double he'll probably drop should he put in another game 7. Set that example of effort for your team and get them pumped to play perimeter D on Parker!...but instead deciding the rest of yr team won't be able to guard him and that it'll be up to you to deliver cheap fouls in lieu of good defense is a reminder that Erick Dampier has been and always will be a career underachiever. His socks roll up higher than he's ever jumped for a rebound. No matter how apathetic Dallas looked in game 2 anyone who endorses his nonsense is just as irresponsible as he. There's a difference between a "playoff hard foul" and somebody getting hurt from false hustle.
