So Timvp what do you think about the Sheed situation now with KG & Boston supposedly playing a factor now?
Tough to say until we hear anything from Rasheed.

By playing him almost the entire Game 5, Pop obviously agreed.

So you got that wrong and you also were wrong about the Spurs easily beating the Mavs. Congrats.

Go look at Pop's rotation when the season was on the line. His coaching agreed with those of us who said Hill should play more and Finley should play less.

    Apology accepted. .

yeah, i was wrong about the spurs beating the mavs and you were right. to be right seems so important for you that i'll concede it to you gladly.
though, i was more hoping for a win, supporting my team when everyone seemed so pessimistic, than predicting a win, even if i really thought it could be possible.

You so obviously didn't watch the game. Hill played pretty damn well that game. His stats didn't do it justice.

But yeah, keep blindly bashing Hill. It's what you've done since a few dumb fans said the Spurs should trade Parker and play Hill more.
slight difference between bashing someone and not over-praising him. i always said and thought Hill was a perfect prospect for this team.

and you can say whatever you want about this game, and even if the kid played really with poise and without fear, he was still almost a non factor. That was clear and obvious, and his stats also show that.

I'm not sure if you read the forum anymore or just complain about stuff but I too have been actively that Bowen and Oberto should return. If Finley picking up his contract doesn't affect how the Spurs spend money the rest of the offseason and Pop doesn't give him a significant role, I'm also fine with Finley at $2.5 million
you're also fine with Finley coming back ?? i could bring your dozens of posts saying the contrary yet.

but my main point was to criticize this stupid idea that Pop could use lesser players just because he's stubborn. Tony, Tim, manu were used as soon as they came. A lot of others had their chances like Beno. The idea that Pop could kill a young player, kill the team by playing weaker players, have a man crush for a player that hurts the team, etc etc.......... stuff like that are just PLAIN BULL .

Pop like experienced player, the last NBA winners prove he's rather right. he's more oriented towards experienced players than maybe some others coaches, but it never costed us a win in PO IMO. This strategy brought us many ones, and that, that's for sure.

Yes there was a lot of pessimistic fans, but a lot of those were actually what we call REALISTIC. Of course you have the idiots that ask for peoples heads and constantly bash players and bring up BS like trading parker,td,etc. I bashed a few like mason, bonner, and just the bench and bigs in general, but like others kept it realistic why we weren't going to win. We all tried after the first 3 games to stay optimistic but we knew it wasn't going to happen. The roster and injuries wouldn't permit it. I refused to after game 4 act all happy and join into the optimistic talk, and I think I was pretty convinced after game 3. But oh well, teams have those years and we've had two now that we were hurt by injuries...I think and hope we are due for a injury free year. Play TD low minutes and pray all this time off gives gino enough time to completely heal. I think we have the roster-given we get another legit big-to play TD and gino lower minutes and still pull out a lot of wins.

Do you know who Steve Smith is?

Pop himself has admitted to being stubborn in the past. After the 2006 season, he said he made a mistake by not playing Oberto more. Some reports have Pop saying he made a mistake by not playing Hill more. , Pop had to be convinced to give Parker a second look because he said no one from France could play point guard in the NBA due to the country's reputation.

Pop is a stubborn coach who likes to take risks. Those two traits have helped the Spurs win four championships. Most of the time, his stubbornness and risk taking works out for the better. Sometimes it doesn't. Pop himself would tell you that.

But apparently you believe Pop is some form of infallible en y who is immune to common coaching errors. Pop is a great coach but he *gasp* makes mistakes sometimes.

Every coach has his own style. More conservative or more audacious.

for each situation you brought where Pop could have done differently and maybe better, i could bring you ten of them where people on this forum were asking him to do a thing and he kept on doing his thing and succeed on his choice.

I would really like to know which players did he kill like i often read here ?
Beno ? Rasho ? they don't do better elsewhere, Pop had nothing to do with their own limitations. which ones so ?

I won't say he is always perfect in his PT dealing. but once again, never to the point to mess it up totally. I just think that if Hill or Blair or Mahinmi proove they're essential for this team, they will have their deserved PT.

I just can't see Pop killing them because of the presence of some vets on the roster. Once again, find me a player that Pop snubed as a coach and that ended being really more useful in another team that he was for us. (real question considering you surely know this franchise better than I, especially before 2001, where i was able to see NBA and spurs games regularly).

you won't come with so much names and that in 13 years of coaching. not so bad. his reputation of mishandling some players, especially the young ones, is largely unfair IMO.

Sorry for bumping this out of nowhere, wanted to reply since yesterday but was getting my account validated.

All I have to say is a bunch of u are some ungracious mofos...last time I checked it was Mason, not Finley who played like pussy in the playoffs. And I dont buy the whole Mason was played out of position bull either, yea its true that Pop ed up by trying that but even when Mason played with Parker and was simply spotting up for shots he dissapeared. Mason missed most of his attempts and than proceeded to being scared to shoot altogether...same that has happened when we had Hedo, Barry, Udoka, etc. The truth is Finley is the only 'shooter' we've brought in since S-Jax left that has stepped up in the postseason, dude has balls and even when he's missing he isnt afraid to keep shooting like these other guys that dissapear and end up at the end of the bench by the end of the series.

Also yes he's a shooter and not much else, but thats his role...I dont understand why everyone expects him to also be a defensive stopper and a slasher. S-Jax was not much else other than a shooter as well, same with Barry & Udoka. I welcome Finley back, especially since our shooters are notorious for dissapearing in the playoffs and he has been an exception. Besides he's getting $2.5 mill, you guys act like he's getting the MLE or something.
