I never understood why him being a Yankees fan correlated to him playing for the Knicks. He is a big Cowboys fan too, which you could assume he hates NY because of the Giants, and he wants to play in Dallas. How does posting a picture of him in a Yankees hat mean he wants to play there. I never understood that argument
also, if this tweet was in fact hinting at something, it's not hinted at them in NY, it's hinting at Shaq's contract expiring next summer when the Cavs will have the money to sign both.

Right now Cavs would have about $23 mil in space if the cap stays the same. However if they re-sign Varejao and use the full MLE that can knock of 12-14 mil off that space.

Well Cleveland are going to sign one superstar to play with Lebron because Mo Williams isnt cutting it, I believe if Bosh takes slightly less or they pull off a sign and trade with Toronto it could work, However im not so sure Bosh is the man to help Lebron win a le, What has Bosh ever achieved on his own, nada. He may well be another Gasol in that he can thrive as the 2nd fiddle as he sure cant do it as a number on guy

LeBron James has always indicated his respect for Tim Duncan. This has caused at least one source at a well-connected Spurs website to speculate that LeBron may choose to join the Spurs next summer. The Spurs front office is regarded as very creative, so the fact that it appears impossible for them to work out a feasible offer under NBA salary-cap rules shouldn't be a problem.
Adding LeBron James to a team already featuring Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Richard Jefferson should strike fear into Laker hearts, so might the Lakers make counter-moves to acquire Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard?
Having two super-teams out West would be very exciting, especially if the Spurs moved to Los Angeles. San Antonio is a small market, and the Spurs consistently draw low ratings in the Finals. Would this change if they relocated to Los Angeles, with a high population of Hispanics, just like San Antonio? It would make for the all-time epic crosstown rivalry. Stay tuned.
The Cavs will have enough money sign Bosh to a max contract. What people are forgetting is they have Bird rights to Lebron so they can go over the salary cap when resigning him. The Bird rights to Lebron make it so Cleveland can build around him way better than any other team because they have the finnancial flexibility to do so.
Ordinarily, salary-cap rules mean that LeBron's expired contract counts a multiple of its previous value against the salary cap until he is re-signed, thus preventing a team from doing what you suggest, but in the world of summer speculation, where words are plentiful and knowledge is scarce, anything is possible.

I was ready to believe this just by looking at the twitter link until I found out it was not former 007 George Lazenby reporting it.
He is saying that the cap space they have right now is not entirely accurate because even though they can sign Lebron to a max deal, until they do so, he will still count against the cap at a high level, thus taking away cap space to sign someone else.
Normally teams renounce rights to FA's to clear up the cap space but they will not do that with Lebron. So he his saying that prevents teams from having a lot of capspace in order to sign a max free agent, then sign their own FA to max as well.
They would have to sign Lebron first, then see how much they have left. Not the reverse order.
Next year, LeBron will earn something like $15 million. Then he becomes a free agent, with Cleveland retaining his Bird rights. As long as Cleveland retains his Bird rights, LeBron's salary does not come off the books. Cleveland does not gain any salary cap room. They cannot sign Chris Bosh to a big contract and then re-sign LeBron.
Instead, what happens is that the Bird rights on LeBron's expired contract count against Cleveland's salary cap at 150% of the value of the last year of his previous contract, which if he makes $15 million, means he counts against the salary cap for $22.5 million, at least until he re-signs. Once he re-signs, his cap figure is equal to his salary again.
So, until Cleveland re-signs LeBron, they actually would lose most if not all of any salary cap room they might otherwise have.
This feature was placed into the collective bargaining agreement specifically to prevent the maneuver you suggested Cleveland use.
The only way Cleveland could get around this would be to renounce LeBron's Bird rights, but then they wouldn't be able to re-sign him, defeating the purpose.
I highly doubt Lebron is going to go play in NY just so he can watch the Yankees play. 90% of black people wear yankee gear just to look cool. Black people don't even like baseball
