Wow, you and that pretentious know it all Extra Stout expected her to basically say "I quit because i can't take it anymore."
    She did basically say that.

"I'm not wired to perform under the pressure of politics as usual."

She more than likely quit because she wanted to run for '012.
Pure speculation. My take was at least based on Palin's actual words. But if you're right, coming out so early will keep her in the media spotlight for over two years. So much exposure could induce Palin fatigue, and might be politically risky in other ways.

She tried not to hint that, and also provide good reasons why stepping down isn't such a bad thing.

    1. She accomplished all her goals
List these, please.(See the link below if you need to crib.)

    2. She can no longer defend herself if she's tied down in Juneu Alaska, now she can raise more money, tour the lower 48 and raise money.
In other words, doing her job, one she ran for and Alaska elected her to do, is too damn inconvenient for Sarah Palin, so she quit. Oh, well. Now freedom from state ethics laws will free her up to capitalize on her fame without restraint. If that's what's best for Alaska, good riddance.

    3. She is under constant attacks from the media over little things, and she has to defend herself, her family, and frivolous litigation. The office of Alaska has become a circus because, too many people are focused on bringing her down. Her electorate was mad at palin for not focusing on the state Governorship. Stepping down made the most sense for the cons uents and her. It was a win win for anybody. She has done enough for alaska, and she left the state of alaska in a better position than her predecessor.
She was under an ethical cloud before McCain picked her and the media circus descended. If that left Palin unable to focus on her job (other politicians can handle it, right?), maybe that would justify her quitting, but it hardly qualifies her for anything higher, still less for the nation's top office.

This whole thing about leaving Alaska high and dry is pure politcal posturing.
Without any good explanation, it sure looks like she did. Palin gave no good reason for it. And even George Will called her a quitter.

She tried to deliver the best motivations without sounding real vain. Without sounding like "hey i got to step down because i have better things to do."
Some *higher calling*? I think she mentioned that too.

She said she was going to continue to fight in otherways. She didn't say she was hiding or running away. And she knows the media will follow.
I thought she wanted to be left alone, to protect her family's privacy. Was I wrong about that? This conclusion cuts against your defense of Palin upstream.

Nowhere in between those two post did you add that modifier, i complied perfectly with your request.

    Don't hurt yourself now.
And I acknowledged it for the minor turd that it was. Then we moved on.

I don't think anyone is going to waste their time looking into 43,000 + post only to spend that much time, comeback to you claiming something different.
You don't know whottt very well.

Why don't you just say, "I'm Chump, I've never called Palin anything that can be construed as sexist." But you wouldnt.
I don't remember if I called her a dumb . This is what we are talking about. If you don't care about it, then I don't see why you are spending so much time on it.

Until proven otherwise, I will continue to believe she stepped down so she could cash in while the opportunity exists. If she waited 18 months, who knows if she could still generate that kind of income. I expect her higher calling to be paid speeches and appearances. She does not care about staying out of the public eye; she craves the attention. And when people realize she used her family as the socially acceptable excuse for her actions, what will they think of her then?

It is much easier to hawk a book if you aren't en bered by a pesky state executive position.

One humor/tabloid crossposted in HuffPo and a couple of fringy blog links don't amount to a media storm, still less a sustained, amoral attack.

Andrew Sullivan. I can believe that. You're up to one MSM source, if The Atlantic can be counted.

EDIT: having followed the link, I see that it can't be counted. You're still striking out on the MSM triggate media storm.

the rumors buzzing across the Internets and the press corps are unfounded and unseemly. There must be plenty of medical records and obstetricians and medical eye-witnesses prepared to testify to Sarah Palin's giving birth to Trig. There must be a record of Bristol's high school attendance for the past year. And surely, surely, the McCain camp did due diligence on this. But the noise around this story is now deafening, and the weirdness of the chronology sufficient to rise to the level of good faith questions. So please give us these answers - and provide medical records for Sarah Palin's pregnancy - and put this to rest.

Doesn't sound like he's being a proponent at all.

    A few hours later:

Here's a photo that looks like it confirms Palin's pregnancy, uploaded today, on what was the last day of the Alaska Legislature's Session, on April 13, 2008, five days before Trig Palin was born. More here. This seems to put the kibbosh on this, although it would still be good to have official confirmation from the McCain campaign, which should be easy enough to do. Just a simple confirmation from the doctor who was present at the birth.

    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.co...oks-pregn.html

It's diabolical how he becomes a proponent of this rumor by debunking it. Look at him running with it.

Matt Lauer was the primary target of the post, with McCain adviser Michael Goldfarb coming in second place.

    Funny.

Since Sully's off-duty, we decided to come up with five coverup scenarios for him to push once he's back in action. If you have a favorite, let us know in the comments section:

This Baby was actually Sarah's baby- Sullivan and many others suspected that the details of Trig's birth were murky because Trig was actually Bristol's baby and Sarah decided to pass him off as her own to thwart the "unwed teen mom" stigma from her daughter. So maybe this time around, it was Bristol who pretended to have Sarah's baby. It's so obvious! To prove that Trig couldn't have been Bristol's, they shoved a pillow up Bristol's dress and said "See! She couldn't have delivered Trig because she's pregnant right now!" But they were going to need to produce a baby eventually for this plan to work, and if Bristol had just given birth to Trig she likely wouldn't have been able to get pregnant again right away. So Sarah got herself knocked up and managed to hide it by wearing lots of Spanx under her leather skirts. Now both Palins are raising each other's baby and everyone is none the wiser.

It's Willow's Baby - Bristol and Levi never even went out. Levi is Willow's guy and he knocked her up, but the age of consent laws being what they are (16 in Alaska), Levi could have been charged with statutory rape had it come out that he had fathered a child with Willow. So they stuck a pillow under Bristol's dress and Willow started wearing lots of Spanx to hide her bump. Look at the pictures of Levi and Bristol at the RNC. Do they look comfortable being with each other? And don't try to pull that "maybe they were just weirded out being on national TV and exploited by a major political party and whatnot." Take off the blinders!

Piper adopted - After spending hours licking baby Trig's head, Piper demanded a baby of her own. The Palins argued that Piper was too young to raise a child, but Piper threatened to reveal the truth about Trig being Bristol's, so the Palins agreed to adopt a baby for Piper and pretend that it was Bristol's so that no one would be alarmed that a baby was being raised by a 7-year-old who just likes the way babies taste.

It's Levi's baby, but from Sarah's fertilized egg implanted into Bristol's uterus - Not exactly sure why this would have happened, but we'll find out come 2012.

It's Andrew Sullivan's baby - Of course! Bristol is just Sully's surrogate mother! That's why he was so persistent in his allegations against the Palins, so we'd never suspect it! Remember, "To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle."

So he debunked it on September 1, and then he, what, rebunked it on November 8?

This is hardly the mainstream media onslaught that was described to me.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm

    Questions for the McCain-Palin campaign:
Where has Bristol Palin (far right, holding Trig, with a ring on her wedding finger) been for the past year? Has she been attending high school? Or was she absent because of infectious mononucleosis for between five and eight months, as is now being reported on the Internet?
Why would a 43 year old woman, on her fifth pregnancy, with a Down Syndrome child, after her amniotic fluid has started to leak, not go to the nearest hospital immediately, even if she was in Texas for a speech?
Why would she not only not go to the hospital in Texas, but take an eight-hour plane flight to Seattle and then Anchorage?
Why would she choose to deliver the baby not in the nearest major facility in Anchorage but at a much smaller hospital near her home-town?
Why did the flight attendants on the trip home say she bore no signs of being pregnant?
It strikes me as likely that there are reasonable answers to these questions - more reasonable than the only one given so far -
"You can't have a fish picker from Texas," said Todd -
and the rumors buzzing across the Internets and the press corps are unfounded and unseemly. (See update.)
