Is it ok to have a "Stupid" president?

Many argue that the president doesn't actually have to do much thinking, that

those around him advise him and present adquate information so he doesn't

    necessarily have to be smart.

Or do you actually need an intelligent president even if he may not be the best public speaker etc..

I read that Thomas Jefferson was actually a very piss poor public speaker and he would have someone read his speeches at times.

So maybe in reference to Ms Palin her poor public speaking can be excused, whether she is or not what the media paints her to be on the matter of her intelligence i really can't say.

Well fair or not, people judge wisdom and intelligence on presentation. If you lack it, you must work extra hard to fight that image.

Where would you guys rank Mr Bush on this? I have to admit he was a great speaker, but do you think that made up for his intellectual deficiencies?

Bush got elected because he seemed like a guy anyone could have a beer and tell stories with. He never seemed smart.

I'd rather have a stupid president than one bent on the destruction of America.

intelligence has nothing to do with it. wilson is the only ph.d. to hold office and he was one of the worst presidents we could've had.

Yes they need intelligence, especially since the executive branch gains more power with each administration.

Sure, he's not a good speaker. At least he's not president Teleprompter...

I never saw where Obama wanted to destroy America. When did he say that?

I'd rather have a president with common sense and a good moral compass than someone who has spent much of their adult life in graduate school.

    What is his IQ?

    What is yours?

People often assume that someone with a southern accent has a low IQ. I often find myself guilty of the same thing.

I would say that we've probably never had a "stupid" president. We've had some with questionable moral character and we've had some that have made poor decisions.

So, to the OP, it really isn't that interesting of a question.

Of course, some of those with questionable moral characters have been great Presidents.

Common sense, moral compass, and a general sense of awareness of the world around them.

Ronald Reagan was no great scholar, but boy did he know how people think.

Warren Harding was kind of dumb. There were other Presidents who might have been pretty smart, but spent most of their time fall-down-in-the-mud drunk.

I don't personally believe that sheer brain power is a requirement. Application of what intelligence you have, even if its only good instincts is more important. And with how complicated our government is these days, no man can know enough about everything, so the most important thing to me is for the President to be a superb judge of character. If he can get good advisers and manage the bad ones in a way that still puts their greed and whatnot to good use for the nation, then he will be a good president. I don't personally believe that either Bush or Obama are that type of president.

You have to destroy the free market to take it over. He already has government taking over the automobile industry, banking, and insurance. He's trying to take over health care. Don't you see, the biggest industries are being nationalized. He's a fascist pig who believes in corporatism.

OK, pitbull 's can't speak, so where are her (Jeffersonian, academic, any?) writings, any ing non-verbal evidence anywhere that demonstrate her brilliance, or even her non-stupidity, non-ignorance?

It would suck to have a VP that constantly said stupid . Oh, wait a minute.
