There's a couple of reasons I could see overpaying for Wallace...better shooting range, slightly more athletic, but largely because at this stage in his career, he's likely to more durable than McDyess. A 35 year old with a surgically repaired knee playing starters' minutes is asking for trouble.

    Gawd, what a newb.

i got that SI framed. Such a great shot, man i miss DR still to this day. Wish someone had the fountain of youth or something so he could come play at like 24 now days and show just how good he was. Always the fastest 7 footer imo, and one of the best

A "big" rotation of TD, Dyess, Blair, Mahinmi, and possibly Haislip. Not bad. I dont include Bonner in there because he had his chance last yr and blew it. He performed well in the 1st half of the season or so but then dissapeared.

He was pretty damn quick, and could actually dribble between his legs before the back problems....seriously. He was a big of a different ilk, that's for sure.

So would you have been okay paying Rasheed (who averaged 12/7/1) the MLE, but not McDyess (who averaged 10/10 in less minutes)?

To me, if you are willing to pay one of them, you should be willing to pay the other. They are both old vets who can contribute. I just don't understand the people that think Dice is a huge huge drop off from Rasheed (and the others who think the other way around).
Because Dice plays way better defence than Rasheed, who suffers from an acute lack of footspeed. He got torched by mediocre big men because he couldnt move well enough to defend the pick and roll.

Dice may not be as good defending the post, but overall he's a fairly superior defender and player.

If we don't add a piece to tighten up the perimeter defense I hope one of the young guys can step up as a true presence in the paint.

Andy Miller said the Blazers have expressed zero interest in McDyess, the veteran free agent power forward

    http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindbla...a_mystery.html
That should confirm that the Spurs will be the highest bidder for McDyess.

    Hopefully.

I don't think Dice will sign with the Spurs, he would have commited by now. He will stay with Detroit.

Unfortunately I agree. The only thing that might change his mind is a trade with Utah which would put him back on the bench. Although, he is used to be a role player so even then it could be a stretch.

    What's your point?
There is no point, he just like to rub it. Laker fans have no class, they get behind wife beaters and accused rapist.

    Sheed - better shooting range
Dice - better shooter! (51% vs 42% for Sheed)

Sheed - didn't look very athletic last year to me
Dice - averaged 10 boards in 30 mins

    Sheed - last 3 season: 75, 77, 66 games
Dice - last 3 seasons: 82, 78, 62 games (not missed through injury but due to trade)

Examine the facts and a different picture is apparent.

I have to agree with Kori though - either of these guys fit us well. I favour Dice over Sheed because Sheed looked like a s of his former self last year to me, and he makes bad decisions under pressure, but I wouldn't have been unhappy if he'd been our guy.

Yes, thanks for that - shall I dig up some Kobe's rape trial footage for you? No, I'm not nasty like that.

Hakeem certainly owned David in that series, although it was arguably a coaching mistake to try to play him one-on-one the entire series when he was so dominant. I guess we had to given the Rocket's potent 3pt shooters. I don't think any player in the world could have stopped Hakeem that year.

As for the Shaq clip, I watched game after game where David embarrassed Shaq in the 90s, so that one is a bit disingenuous.

I have the same feeling with McDyess that I had with Wallace.

    I don't think he's coming here either.

Magic general manager Otis Smith is in pursuit of another center/forward type who can supplement an Orlando frontline that features only Howard, Rashard Lewis and Anderson now. The Magic never were in serious contention for Rasheed Wallace, who committed verbally to the Boston Celtics, and Smith said Monday he has little-to-no interest in Boston restricted free agent Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Smith has talked to representatives for Brandon Bass and he is expected to begin talks soon with Antonio McDyess about potentially signing with the Magic.

Suddenly SA nor Orlando are as interested in Big Baby as earlier reports today suggested?

Memphis, New Orleans, and San Antonio are interested in Glen Davis, a restricted free agent forward, but no offers have been made, according to an NBA source. The Spurs prefer Detroit free agent forward Antonio McDyess.

this might be my fault..I said last week that I expected Davis to be back in Boston, because no team would be stupid enough to offer him more than the Celtics would match..I guess I didn't consider my own team..

HAHAHAAAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA Damnit. Undersized, overweight! Well didn't we just draft a guy like that? OH SHYT we did! Why do we need two projects like that? Blair might work out and lose some weight, but Baby is just like him pretty much except he can't board as well.
