Hopefully, Dice will remember how his former fellow Piston Ben Wallace fell of the face of the earth when he ended up in Cleveland.

Let that be a lesson, Dice.
His disappearance really happened when he went to Chicago for big money though. He was a decent role player in Cleveland before his knee gave out.

Something to keep in mind is the roster charge rule.

    http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q14

A roster charge if the team has fewer than 12 players (players under contract, free agents included in team salary, players given offer sheets, and first round draft picks). The roster charge is equal to the rookie minimum salary for each player below 12. The roster charge only applies during the offseason.
Pistons have only 11 players right now, so you have to add one rookie minimum salary ($457,588) to their team salary.

If Pistons salary dump Affalo and Shard they won't save nearly $2M because two roster charges will be added to their team salary. They will save $0.9M by dumping both.

Right now, Detroit cap space depends on what Villanueva and Gordon contracts are.
If it's $55M for Gordon and $40M for CV, Pistons have $2.1M in cap space.
If it's $55M for Gordon and $35M for CV, they have $3M...

If 'Dyess actually signs here, Pop's going to make his man-love for Finley look more like that of an acquaintance.

Fin may not leave the team, but 'Dyess is just the man to get Pop over his old flame..

I reallky hope Dice signs with the Spurs.. we've got to nip in the bud all this talk about the Spurs being too young and inexperienced to contend for the championship.. just when everyone was getting comfortable with the "old as dirt" label..

That would be great! I'm beyond sick of hearing the "old" lingo tossed around on nationally televised games, as if these guys are 100. Of course Dice is 34, so it would hardly help to shed any labels.

But first of course, he has to sign.

    Great info.

For one of the first times in a long time, however..

I'm not sure the professional athlete desired, is in it for the money.

'Dyess enjoyed a career rebirth in Detroit, thanks in large part, because of a gamble made by Dumars and a stretch of ensuing good health that rewarded, said gamble.

He's had a lot of good fortune in Detroit (both on and off the court) and has to feel grateful, and maybe even somewhat beholden, to Dumars. But, if Dumars is the type of guy I think he is?

I think he'll encourage a guy like 'Dyess to go get the ring.

If Dice chooses the Pistons, then the Spurs next MLE offer will be to Big Baby Davis.

If Dumars wanted McDyess back it would be a done deal. It's hard for Dumars to tell him to "move on" especially for his extreme past loyalty. This is a rebuilding year for Detroit, and McDyess is not going to be a part of it. The nicest thing Dumars can do for McDyess is to let him go. McDyess will thank him later. IMHO.

If the Spurs do not get McDyess, I would rather them not use it and save some money. Just go with Bonner for a while and pursue a trade. If they are going to use it anyways, I would rather them split it on Moon/Big or wing/big.
