You'd better hope so, daddy-O. Otherwise, what's transpired since Fisher went vertical over Nelson will seem like Sunday school.
The Spurs last year won the Southwest Division and won 54 games.
This was without Manu Ginobili (a top 20 player). Without Richard Jefferson. Without Antonio McDyess. And with a one-legged Tim Duncan with Matt Bonner starting. Not to mention the steal of the draft DeJuan Blair ( if his knees hold up).
Lakers are still the favorite being the reigning champions. But to say the Spurs still don't have enough to beat the Lakers is such an ignorant thing to say.
The Spurs are officially back.![]()

Basically Spurs are subs uting
Udoka/ Vaughn/ Oberto/ Kurt Thomas/ Bruce Bowen/ Gooden for...
Manu /McClinton/ Blair / Antonio McDyess/ Richard Jefferson/ Haislip or Gist
Huge off-season!
He doesn't get to be called a steal until he proves to be relevant
Champs indeed. Congrats. Last year is last year. Spurs will be the Lakers' biggest threat next year. It should be a war.
Even if he hurts his knees and has to retire.
Manu+ RJ + Mcdyess >>>>>>>>>> Udoka/ Bowen/ Kurt Thomas.
You exploiting the part of my post that is the least relevant is typical of Laker fan in denial.
Their biggest threat is probably the Celtics.
Spurs are just yesterdays news. They capitalized on a down time in the NBA and even then needed technicalities and injuries to win their les.
The league is much stronger these days and the Spurs cornerstone's best years are behind him.
Actually no, the Magic, Celtics, and Cavs are all better than the Spurs. They are the biggest threats. 4th place sucks huh
Parker> Rondo
Manu> Allen
RJ< Pierce
Tim> KG
McDyess= Sheed
I'd say Spurs are the biggest threat.
Although you could counter with Perkins> Bonner.
Which is true, but doesn't make up for the comparison between the five most important pieces to each team.
Continuing...
Parker> Nelson
Manu= Carter
RJ> Pietrus
Duncan> Lewis
McDyess< Howard
True. If Duncan is forced much further out he'll need a slingshot, a gross of Ben-Gay, and a Gideon's Bible.
Manu is not better than RayRay, especially considering Manu is injury prone.
Sheed is better than McDyess, and you would be saying it too if the Spurs had gotten sheed instead.
And the Celtics give us more problems than the Spurs do. And everybody knows it
Parker> Mo Williams
Manu> Delonte West
RJ< Lebron
Duncan> Varajao
McDyess< Shaq
Spurs 3 to 2 again and have the better bench than both the Magic and the Cavs and Boston.
The Spurs also have ALL THAT DEPTH on they're bench. Not many teams can say they are lucky enough to have Matt Bonner waiting to come in.
The Spurs are no longer a threat because they don't have even a good defense anymore. In fact, I'll go as far as saying the Lakers are a better defensive team then the Spurs are, and the Lakers are clearly a more dominant offensive team.
Manu is better than Ray Ray. That's like me saying Garnett is injury prone so he doesn't count. Get a clue.
Sheed was barely better than McDyess. As Wallace has gotten older hes floated away to being a 3 point chucker who doesn't mix it up inside. Therefore now McDyess has narrowed the gap.
Same thing goes for the Lakers with Luke Walton.
Spurs have no depth at all. Which is mainly why Lakers > Spurs as of now, even with the signing of RJ.
Hard to believe but I agree with this.
lol Do you understand this years Spurs team is going to be significantly different than last years? You are blind. You poor child.
Last year Spurs main five was:
Bonner/ Duncan/ Finley/ Mason/ Parker
3 players who are horrible defensively. This next year is going to be a different story.
McDyess/ Duncan/ Jefferson/ Manu/ Parker
KG had A knee injury. Manu has been consisstently injured for two years.
And again the Celtics give the Lakers more problems than the Spurs
Im just glad there are two of these threads. Two times the fail for the price of one.
Lamar Odom is better than any Spurs bench player
