I, for one, don't have a problem with them. As long as the minutes they log are insignificant. Once they start averaging way too many minutes is when fans really start getting upset. However, there will always be people who complain about a player.
That Finley is a class act is well do ented. Nothing I have heard about Booner suggest he is not a team player either. Whether they stay with the Silver and Black next season remains in question. Whatever the future holds for them, I sincerely appreciate their efforts for the Spurs and wish them well. Let's show a level of class commensurate with our great franchise and not let our unsatiable lust for even more talent on the roster undermine that in the weeks that come.

Point is, talking about them like they are trash to be discarded, rather than solid human beings, is not cool.

Character alone doesn't win![]()
show them the love and send them to play with the mighty greece players
The way the team is constructed now it seems like these guys would fit in nicely. They know the "system" and don't rock the boat. As long as they don't get big minutes, I'm glad they're on the team.
i dont understand how people dont think these 2 will contribute
THEY BOTH STARTED LAST SEASON!!!!!!
i'm not saying they should have started, but they started on a 50 win team and are now going to be asked to come off the bench... how many teams have that?
asking them each to log 12-18, maybe 20 minutes a night is perfect for them... they won't be asked to guard people for huge stretches, but will be asked to make their rotations and set up in the corners to knock down open shots... which both can do and at a great %
Jefferson and AMD are perfect because we can finally move them both into roles they should be playing and not asking them to do more than they are capable of
Solid mentoring guys if nothing else. I'm still not convinced one of them can't come in and hit some big Kerr-type 3s in the playoffs either. Although, with this unprecendented amount of firepower hard to see the offense stagnating to the point where that would be necessary.
If Pop could agree not to overplay Finley then this would be fine but no one in the world thinks that's going to happen.
Even if they're both shipped out it's not like whoever comes back is going to get meaniful minutes. Besides, doesn't anyone fear whoever the return player is will just take minutes away from our precious Gist, Hairston, or McClinton?
Seriously, has no one paid attention to the moves the Spurs have just made? They're not spending all this money on Jefferson and McDyess so Finley and Bonner can continue to start and log heavy minutes.
Sure, it's possible they look to move one or both as a salary dump but it might be even more valuable to them to let them run off the books.
I have no problem with these guys, my problem is withplaying the vets over promising youngsters, stunting their growth. Either way, hope they find another team that can appreciate their talents

(crickets chirping)
Joking!
They'll continue to fine role players within the proper scope: ie, neither of them playing over 30 minutes a game.![]()
Bonner and Finley both seem like great guys; they've both given some solid contributions to our team (Finley's actually hit a ton of clutch shots). Hopefully they don't take it personally, but if we could trade them 2-for-1 for a good backup small forward, it might be useful. Maybe if Houston is looking to rebuild, Bonner, Finley and next year's 1st rounder for Battier. We need the roster spots this year and next anyway.
Or they'll be traded and bring back something even better!!!![]()
Nothing against the two but it's been too long since a championship
lmao
well... neither will play that much if at all. both are great trade pieces i think cause they both have expirings. finley is obviously a good mentor for some of the younger wings like gist or hairston but RJ, manu and mason arent bad either. i would miss both but wouldnt mind one bit to see them go.
The Spurs are in win now mode. The youngsters can learn from the vets on how to play. Having said that, I wouldn't mind the younger guys getting some burn too, but not to the extent of sacrificing the few years left of good basketball left in TD. This season is about winning a championship, nothing more nothing less.
their wives can show them how love not me
I think the starting talent is deep enough that guys like Ian, Haislip, Malik, DeJuan can rotate in and out to the tune of 10-12 mins per game without leaving us vulnerable on the floor at any time. And personally, I dont want those minutes taken by Bonner of Finley.
For Fin playing about 15 mins a night off the bench=
For Bonner NOT playing at all![]()

I have to say, given how classy the Spurs organization is, that I for one as Spurs fan would like to emulate that class and treat Fin and Bonner with respect. I thank them for what they done and believe they will continue to help us this upcoming year.
As people, I have alot of respect for them and I appreciate what Fin has done for the Spurs. Bonner, I appreciate him for his effort last season, but he needs to man up. That being said, I don't want them hogging minutes.
I appreciate their contracts which may facilitate a great trade coming up...
Love showed... this is now my wallpaper.
Probably the first person to ever use it.
