Interesting. I think hes worth more than $7M obviously, but he just came up unlucky with his contract running out with teams trying to save for 2010. Thry would probably only trade to the East if worse comes to worse.
Lamar Odom
"His agent has been desperately trying to find a sign-and-trade around the league, but there’s little there but the Lakers’ offer of $7 million per season. Odom had a terrific playoffs and Finals on L.A’s championship run, but he has few options to make the Lakers raise their offer. Why has Portland so far sat it out with him? It still makes no sense."

Please, nobody seriously propose Bonner + Finley + Mason.
hoping that doesnt happen because lamar played a key role in championship run. if the lakers do end up trading him, i would love to see them go after kirk hinrich, or andre miller with a sign and trade. most likely, odom will have to accept the 7-8 mil on the table from the lakers, and if he demands a trade, try to package him with luke or sasha's contract for someone
It was posted about a week ago on Laker forums
Newest news is Lakers upped offer to over 8 Million Per.
wasnt this in the lamar odom thread? this story is old. the newer story is the lakers are offering 8 million and an assistant gm expects a deal in a week
So Odom wants 10 mil per year?
ok good. hopefully he comes back and accepts the same role he had last year.
last i heard lamar wanted 10 per and lakers offered 7. if the lakers upped it to 8, the balls in lamars court. get it done lamar!!
Lamar should just sit this season out, take a vacation in Hawaii, just to screw the Lakers over.
With what other players make in the league, Odom is worth $10 million a year.
I'd try to get the Knicks involved. They could sign-and-trade David Lee or trade Al Harrington and his expiring contract. Odom would play well in D'Antoni's style, and he'd be going home to New York. They'd still have enough cap space for a max contract next summer. And if the Knicks could somehow get rid of Eddy Curry, they'd have enough cap space to go after two big names still.
Why does Odom want out of L.A.? Does he feel like he should start?
And people in want ice water. Why would LA bid against themselves with a sign and trade? Unless Utah matches Portland's offer on Millsap, Odom's SOL.
That's what he's been doin' his entire tenure for the Lakers until the '09 Playoffs.
they won't have another Ron Artest waiting thought to replace Odom too.
Precisely. He constantly flirts with being more trouble than he is worth. Now that he's got "getting a ring out of system" he'll go back to ruminating about his child.
It's similar to why Rudy could not function as coach any longer. He'd been >touched< and it was no longer a business, but, now it was a game and it didn't make sense. Odum is the same: he's been touched by reality. We're gd lucky we were able to get there this year and those two 3's by Odum late in Game 5 was his finest hour.
Bingo! Everybody wants him off the Lakers, but, ain't nobody willin' to pay cash for him. Because they know he has to be babysat & cajoled. His baggage is enormous and everybody knows it.
And like you I'd listen to all offers on the S&T.
Maybe Lamar looked at Andrew Bynum's 4 year, $58 million extension ($14.5 million per) he got and saw how in the playoffs he basically doubled Bynum's production, and thinks he's worth more than $7 million a year. I agree he's SOL because other teams aren't creating much of a market or bidding war for him. But, I don't blame him for wanting more than the Lakers are offering.
In fairness to Bynum 4/58 is a bargain for a top 5 center.
I'd do it just to have Farmar off this team. Plus, Nick Young is a G.
Yup, Odom will stay a Laker and make a compromise with the Lakers for $9 million.
DJ mBenga and Josh Powell are cool peeps but I can't see them being a major part of the rotation like Lamar was.
Yes odoms worth 10 mill compared to others..but there is no point in the Lakers bidding against themselves.
Of course Odom's agent is looking for this, but why would the Lakers do it? Odom fits what the Lakers need perfectly. If anything, they should sign him to 1 year deal to keep him motivated.
