So let me get this straight. The Magic used the Mavs to get a trade exception in the Hedo trade. The Magic signed Bass and were able to do so because the Mavs were convinced they were getting Gortat. The Magic wait it out and then match Gortat's offersheet after all the big names are off the free agent board.
Wow. That might be the dirtiest chain of events I've seen in the NBA. Otis Smith just played Kobe to Cuban's Kate.
It kinda sucks too because the Mavs with Gortat might have been a team that had a chance against the Lakers. I thought Gortat was a great fit for Dallas.

Just because their guess was correct, doesn't mean it was anything more than a guess. They're still incompetent and ill-informed.
It was a well-informed guess. It just makes sense not to give up a big guy that is young. Especially with the magic losing 3 players this offseason.
