Why is it clear already? Did you forget how awful George Hill was in the SL last year?
Sure, I agree. Also because everyone tries to turn him into a PG at some point and fails.

Of course there are other options. But could you get them?
I think he spends the year in Europe anyways. So don't worry.
George Hill July 2008 Forum.
you're right, we should stop wasting time on this kid we gave him 10 minutes to show us he was better then kobe and he failed quite simply.
Why is everyone comparing him to Hill? He's not a PG prospect. He's an undersized SG prospect.
Undersized SG shooter value << NBA sized PG value
chill dude, it's one game, there's a good chance he could end up in Austin this year..
what are you gonna say if he shoots 7-9 next game?
He is a 50's pick and has only played one game. If he sucks throughout the rest of the SL and camp you will get your wish.
I swear, Spurs fans aren't satisfied unless every player on the team is an All-Star.
That was an AI reference...read the full quote before attacking it.
And nowhere did anyone say he was supposed to be Kobe. Even if he shot 4/4, he's still a SG in a PG's body.
Why the would they release him now? He's only here for summer league and prob an invite to training camp. If he makes the roster its because the Spurs, who are much better than you at judging talent, have seen something worthwhile in him. And there are not much better options for a 14th or 15th player which is what McClinton would be this year. If he makes the roster, a big if for a late 2nd rounder, then its not for what he could do this year but rather for what he can do in the future.
Release him from what? He's not on any kind of guaranteed contract.
stash him in euro for a year
chill
I love the meltdowns after the first game of summer league. They happen every year like clockwork.
This latest one is pretty special, though. A late second round draft pick that statistically has a 2% chance of making it based on his draft position should be released after 15 minutes of summer league action from a non-existent roster spot to go after a player that isn't available?
Love it.
There are enough level heads in here to crush these threads like an underhand lob to Pujols in Williamsport.
I may hate Ian but at least I have a few facts on my side to back it up, and I still want the Spurs to at least give him 6-12 months to turn himself around. Jack hasn't even dripped sweat on the court much less learned the names of his team mates.
Some time give it to him, and please kindly STFU until then. The fat lady hasn't even glanced at the roster at this point, so singing her tune ain't even an option yet.
You forgot, "because even Allen Iverson is having trouble finding a team after having a HALL-OF-FAME career."
OP is full of suck.
mcclinton is like eddy house type of player, if he can get to play shooting point guard or something like that (gets the ball up front and let the SG or someone with better passing ability decides how the attack will go) he could make the roster, maybe not this year, maybe not this team, but give him a chance.
And maybe he will grow up a little, hope dies last![]()
Damn! Usually the "trade/release (insert player name here)" happens after regular season games!!![]()
some of u guys r stupid for saying "some of u guys". One guy created the post and nobody here is defending him.
I'm sure anyone saw the thread here where Duncan had a terrible first game in summer league.
Damn, think how great this team would have been had we cut that guy and replaced him with someone else. We could have like 10 les by now.
Release Duncan
