"We still feel terrific about our team," Mavericks president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "This [Gortat Deal] was an added plus. But we've got Erick Dampier, and he's more than filled that position for us in the past. We're ready to go to war with what we've got. I'm sure that we're going to continue to be active in the free-agency and trade fronts."

    Nelson called Gortat a "nice-to, not a need-to."

Damp's contract clause for 2010-11 season to be guaranteed:

Dampier must play at least 2,100 minutes in the 70 regular-season games in the 2009-2010 season in which he plays the most minutes ... so he's got to average 30 minutes a game IN 70 GAMES.

The FO is just like politicians, take what they say with a grain of salt. After all, the "we love our team" came in the weeks before the Kidd trade.

the only way to upgrade center would be through trade IMO... really I don't see any free agent big men out there that are better than Dampier.

which is why the Mavs are in trouble for next season...in order to make a trade we would probably have to give up JET or J-Ho. The thing about signing Gotart was that you didnt have to give up anything to acquire him and at the same time upgraded the center position. Mavs probably wont make a deal until September when they can trade Buckner with other players since he has a $1mil buyout. With Buckner's contract mavs can receive back $5.1 million saving the other team $4.1. He is the knew Stack chip...hopefully Buck and Shawne Williams expiring contracts can bring us something decent bc the FA's left are trash

If the Mavs sign any of these spares, i will kill myself

Reminded me of Joe D last season, he said something along those lines and then traded Billups.
