Precisely. It was just a power struggle and Buss chose Magic. Contrast that with Magic's ascension over Jabbar. Jabbar wisely stepped aside and it was a peaceful & most beneficial change. A natural progression. Contrast that with the power struggle twixt Daddy & Kobe. Shaq wanted a little buddy and Kobe had no intention of being the little buddy. We were damn fortunate to get 3 before that went south.

What a little . I could understand if a team that wasnt one of those 8 teams in the league during that time said this...but werent the Lakers one of those 8 teams? They shouldve done something about the Cs reign if they are indeed the greatest team in the league like u say they are.

Artest was a great signing for y'all, but let's not change the facts and act like he chose less $$ and LA over more $$ and Houston. He went to LA AFTER the Rockets said no (only 1 yr offered vs multiple years and more guarenteed $$ in LA).

Yer overwrought, carr. If Odom doesn't return it will be a jolt, but, it is not a death knell. There is the sign & trade, there is other free agents if he signs outright (I doubt we'd use that option), there is the trade deadline in January when the losers will be looking to shed payroll and we can use them as a means to an end. Regardless if Odom comes that trade deadline in this economy will be a boon to the Lakers. It's gonna be a gold mine.
