Nash is a ridiculously good shooting PG, probably one of the best. People tend to forget how crazy he was during that MVp span, they were all well deserved IMO.

When you factor in the fact one has been a defensive stud most of his career and the other has been one of the biggest defensive liabilities in NBA history, Kidd > Nash.
Well i can think of two previous SUNS PG's better than Nash.
Kidd and KJ.
Kidd: 13.8 PPG, 9.2 APG, 6.7 RPG, 2.0 SPG, 3.1 TOPG, stud defender
Nash: 14.4 PPG, 8.0 APG, 3.0 RPG, 0.8 SPG, 2.7 TOPG, huge defensive liability
Kidd > Nash
Off topic, but I can't figure out 7-12 in the West. I currently have the Suns as 7th... seems kinda weird considering they were 9th last year and lost a productive player in Shaq... but I'm sensing vast dropoff from Houston and NOLA, and none of the lottery teams leapfrogging Phoenix... although Golden State/OKC may be sleeper playoff teams.
I expect 42-45 wins may get you in the playoffs this year.
Just spouting off. -Ghaz![]()
Both were more complete PG's than Nash....scoring,dishing,rebounding,DEFENSE.
Granted Kidd was a liability left open on the perimeter at times but he could shut his guy down.
KJ was a 20/10 guy who could disrupt on defense.....underrated.
I've said already the Suns will grab the 8 seed next year. All the Nash fans that celebrate mediocrity will be ecstatic.
KJ in '90/'91
22.2ppg
10.1apg
3.5rpg<
2.1spg
51%FG
Feisty defense

I would definitely factor OKC in there. Lots of young talent with Durant only getting better....
They're a year away.....the Suns make the playoffs next year....book it.
As long as they have nash, I'll agree.
Steve Nash is one of the toughest compe ors Ive ever witnessed.
You got DuncanOwnsKobe who is bizzarely obsessed with Nash and Mavs fans who are still pissed that he left.
DuncanOwnsKobe, your accusations against Nash are way off base. This is the second time Im going to inform you that you dont have the slightest clue what you are talking about. Not only is he a great shooter and passer, but he's a fantastic teammate who always stays positive no matter how the game is going. And no matter what the score is, he never gives up. The dude gets his nose busted open and drains two straight threes pointers with his face covered in blood.
Yeah...overrated.
Anyone who blames Nash or Raja Bell or Boris Diaw or Amare Stoudemire or ANYONE for complaining about Porter is as clueless as Porter was. I have never witnessed a worse communicator. I know that EVERY fan-base seems to think that their coach sucks, but he was really, REALLY bad. Name another coach who got fired after half a season.
And anyone who says that the Suns didnt like him because he "asked them to play defense" is a freaking moron.
Porter deserved to be fired.....and Nash deserves to be traded just as much.
Why would Mavs fans be pissed Nash left? Him leaving is what turned them into a good defensive team and propelled them past the Spurs into the finals.
That might win the re ed statement of the year award.
Other than the fact that we couldn't control his destination and he greatly strengthened a Western Conference rival, I was totally fine with not keeping him. So on that score, I agree with DOK. Dallas used Antoine Walker's expiring to land JET, and they used Nash's salary slot to sign Erick Dampier. Dampier is a MLE guy that got a franchise player contract, but he was useful in defending Duncan and improved our interior defense. Of course Dirk is our best player, and Josh is our Robin, but we don't beat the Spurs and come within inches of winning a le without Dampier giving us decent interior defense. The Suns routinely gave up 50%+ shooting nights to opponents during the SSOL era. That's fine when you're curbstomping the Grizzlies at home in February, but that's fatal for le aspirations.
But when it comes to Nash's compe iveness, I agree with da_suns_fan. I wouldn't question his toughness or passion for the game. It's not that he won't play defense, he can't. And at his height he was an elite player, with his offensive contributions making up for his lack of defense.
^If John Stockton can be a top tier defender, Nash can play decent defense. Nash doesn't play defense to the best of his ability. He ball hawks, roams around, and always makes the wrong decision on going over/under the screen.

^sounds like a real compe or!!!!
That's just defensiveness over not winning one. He's trying to be aloof about it.
He is aloof about it. He's made it pretty clear he could care less about winning and more about money. That's why he wants to sign a lucrative extension with the Suns rather than go to a contender.
Stockton was just as flawed as Nash is. A more selfish player did not exist during his tenure. He'd consistently pass up shot opportunities to goose his assist total and most importantly propagate his legend. It's what led to his team's downfall time & again.
LOL i love DoK. He's been so pissed with the nash extension and ...and you know what I totally understand. It's like ok there's a dead end coming, and you know it's there but on the way to that dead end there's only a few houses you can stop at that are middle class houses, a few pretty nice, but nothing amazing, so you stop at all of them and in the end don't get the one you wanted and end up crashing hard into the end.
Why pay money to nash when you know it's not going to win u a chip this year or the near future? It's obvious there's quite a few teams better than the suns, if im them you plan for the future which is what i think DoK wants. I feel for the suns, i really do, as a fan of bball, they had their chances and had a few years of pretty legit teams, just for one reason or another happened and they couldn't get it done....that era is now at an end and they need to refresh-its very obvious.
For DoK, i feel for ya man, and all the other phoenix get (asu fans) fans who ditch and don't care now. Damn bandwagoners, just like socal and the lakes dude. As for Nash, you know I didn't like his ish when he was talking about the armed forces and Drob stepped up and put him in his place-but i think i took that the wrong way-i actually think nash is a pretty awesome dude, BUT as a fan you know he's obviously going down hard quick and he just won't be able to do enough next year to make the suns significant. Nash I will give props to tho, a guy who rose up and played some damn good ball when quite a bit of odds were against him.
