LOL, you should have declined your option and signed for 2 mil instead of the 5.9 million to make the Spurs better If you are indeed the real Finley

no hate for findog, he'll be valuable coming playoff time with limited minutes. But as far as I am concerned, I hope Malik Hairston can backup RJ

As BOROSAI laid out, Finley as a 10 minute sub for RJ could work well. Outwise he's useless.

No doubt the Spurs' roster will be much better, younger and quicker this year. A contender again.

They lose one thing getting there -- three point shooting. The good longshooters were lacking in other areas and their roles may now be reduced -- Bonner, Mason, etc.

Finley could be a crucial player off the bench to hit the big three. Mason and Bonner need playing time to get 3's within the flow of the game. They have not proved that they can enter the game and immediately hit the dagger 3 (in fact, Bonner seemingly can't). A vet like Finely can do that. Like Horry did.

The one factor that those who disparage Finley may overlook is the choke factor -- Finley doesn't have it.

This is my first post. I have been viewing these forums long enough, and I am so frustrated and tired of hearing all the hate towards the return of Michael Finley. Finley is the guy who is coming off of his greatest 3 point shooting season. He brings experience to the rooks with his veteran leadership. I am glad that he chose to come back and finish his career in SA. He will not be traded because Pop sees what I see in him, and that is a guy who doesn't talk smack, shows up for work night in and night out, and hits the big shot when called upon.

    pop, is that you?

Rather have Finley & Bonner than Oberto & Bowen.

I've always been a big Finley fan, but lately, too many 2 for 8 performances, can't stay in front of anyone on the defensive end.

The Finley hate on this board is a bit harsh, I bet he knows what's in store for him this year. He'll probably get the Bowen treatment this year, but I'm okay with that because of the depth the Spurs have at the 2/3.

I don't have anything against him, but at the same time, I'm not gonna feel sorry for him.

Poor, sad, multi-millionaire who plays a game for a living... boo-friggin-hoo. He makes more money in 1 game than soldiers deployed to combat make in a year. Respect him, but don't martyr him.

Oh yeah, I can see him sitting next to Bonner on the bench, all of next season.

x2, 10-12 minutes at the most. He is a defensive liability to say the least. I got sick and tired of seeing him get beat last season. As Ive said before there are much worse options to have in the 9 or 10 spot of your roster though.

Michael Finley Is A True Professional, And I love the Role He Plays with this team... He is Not A Starter Anymore, and with adding Jefferson, and Ginobili playing Healthy, I dont see Him getting That Many Minutes..... Hopefully he gets his 15 mins a game..... There Is No reason to hate Finley, He Is A compe or, is A true Professional, and has hit some big Shots For us...... Since When Did Spurs Fans Bash A Man Who Played A Big role In helping us get A Ring??? Im Dissapointed at the Haters.....

Limited minutes is the key phrase. Bonner in limited minutes is a passable one-on-one post defender against slower bigs and a near 50% three-point shooter, and greater when he's hot. Finley is a complete liability on defense, especially against faster guards and forwards, but has shown to be a fantastic shooter when he has the hot hand. These two are practically mirror images in that regard, so 10-20 minutes each depending on whether they're shooting well or depending on matchups that can mask their defensive holes sounds like a good compromise. Or so I think.

I do not hate Finley. He is a pro among pros. The thing that I do not like is the fact that his age is starting to show on the court. I want him to prove me wrong. As of right now, I see him playing only spot minutes.
