True. In fact the Celtics went farther than SA and they were missing a more important player than the Spurs were. KG was more important to Boston than Ginobili was to SA
true, but i would also say that the mavs were a much better and complete team than the bulls who did have some nice players in gordon, salmons, and rose.

howard, kidd, and dirk though... little more proven and tough to match up with imo

Amazing how you guys just completely ignore the defending Eastern conference champs, Orlando Magic. We got eliminated in the first round so we should be lower. It's Lakers, Orlando, and then we go from there. Orlando is making some nice moves to keep them in contention for a le. Bass was a good pickup for them and now Matt Barnes too along with Vince Carter, they have a solid core and vets at that surrounding Howard, give them props. I'd take the Spurs over Cleveland but over Boston would be a close one because they have Wallace and Garnett to throw at Tim, the have Paul Pierce who a beast and their team defense is outstanding when they are healthy and should be better with Wallace. Lakers, Orlando, Boston, Spurs, Cavs. Yeah, I think they in the top five and could be tied with Boston but until we see how this season goes Orlando and LA are the top 2 we all chasing them.

Magic were not even legit contenders last year. They beat Celtics without KG. Then faced LeChoke who was more worried about his pregame teatrics.

Magic are the Mavs of the East. Mavs beat an injured Spurs and were also non-contenders. Just got lucky. Stand-ins. That's how lucky the Fakers were last year.

They made it to the Finals and played well against the Lakers that's all that matters. They won regardless of the cir stances and that's what I'm saying. We lost in the 1st round to a wack Mavs teams but we still lost.

Boston being deep is a statement that baffles me, they have no bench. Portland is possibly the deepest team in the league.

The Celts are going to have a BIG drop-off this year. KG is no longer am elite player, Allen and Pierce are dropping and are too old, and Sheed has little in the tank, he is not going to add anything.

I'm assuming they get Davis back..

that would give them 9 players that can collectively make a significant impact on the game in many different ways, and also the possibility of getting Marbury back too..

Orlando is the deepest team in the NBA IMO, but Boston has the best mixture of depth and talent, assuming they get Baby back, at least IMO..

You absolutely cannot place the Spurs anywhere in the top 4 spots. They simply haven't proven themselves yet with their new roster.

    It goes like this:

    1. Lakers
    2. Boston
    3. Orlando
    4. Cleveland
    5. San Antonio

    1. Celtics -If KG is healthy they're the team to beat again.
    2. Lakers - They lost Ariza and possibly Odom and gained an aging
psychopath. We'll see how it plays out.
    3. Spurs - Poised to shock the world. Health is their main variable.
    4. Cavs - Shaq and Lebron are going to tear up.
    5. Magic - Meh
    6. Mavs
    7. Nuggets

Seriously I think you are bonkers.

Lakers on top (just by a hair cause they are defending champs and they got Artest)
    Cavs - James is pissed
Magic, Boston, Spurs, Denver should be the next tier. Hard to rank them at this point in time.

But Wizards at the bottom? OMG. Arenas if back should make them a lot better. Butler should be back after a bad year. Theres still Randy Foye, Mike Miller and Jamison. Not forgetting that they have Flip Saunders as a coach.

Instead you put the Grizzlies at 16 on what basis? 3 Freaking ball hogs in Randolph, Mayo and Gay. Randolph alone will ensure that they implode.

There are a few other slightly questionable ones that I wont even go into.

Even when healthy last season the Spurs were not very impressive. Weak bench, weak front court, mediocre defense. They weren't winning any les with that team. Stop kidding yourselves, the Spurs just weren't that good last season.

    1. celtics - everyone is back and they are a scary team
    2. spurs - see above
    3. lakers - pretty strong, but felt they had a run against a weak cast, if odom goes, look for a quick out in the PO
    4. Magic - a little too stacked, i thought hedo was an important piece of the puzzle for them ... now they jus look like a TANK .. dont know if that will mesh
    5. Cavs .. Shaq in the paint, means pretty much lane is clogged, add to that lebron's iffy shooting, and the lane is going to be PACKED for this one ..
    6. others dont matter ...

I agree that Nugs should be above Mavs until we can prove that we can beat them. We lost 2 bench players, Bass and Wright but gained a starter, Marion. I think Marion will more then make-up for those 2.

Most fans wants their team to be on top of course. To be honest this kind of thread is garbage. There is a lot of factors to be first seed in come to the season. Health, Chemistry, etc.... We won't know til the season starts. Obviously teams will be adjusting. Yes i will say Lakers is number one because they are champs who cares. But not for long, A lot of the team will gun them done.

AND I WILL SAY THIS GO SPURS GO..
