Absolutely. You hear REAL stories of racial profiling all the time. The only thing Gates and Obama did was cause resentment. Its political dynamite for Obama and, mark my words, we will see him apologize for it.

Obama never said there was any racial motivation.
He showed a Harvard ID with no address etc. So he called Harvard police. He was leaving but Gates decided he wanted to mouth off some more and the cop decided "enough was enough".

Obama implied that the cops couldnt arrest Gates for burglary, so they arrested him for disorderly conduct since he was black.

this really comes down to an educated harvard man stating a "you do not know who i am" (the same thing that any number of black or white professors would have done) and a cop saying " f you... i can still arrest you" and doing just that. add to that a strong mix of cultural tension and you have this current mess.

He doesn't really have anything to apologize for except making an less than artful connection, but people like you like to latch onto these things to distract from any real issues facing this country. I see him going down the clarification route and perhaps giving the nonapology-apology.

A police officer pissed off a good friend of the most powerful man on Earth. I'd say the police officer is ed.
I've been involved in numerous knock down drag out fights with ex wives that have resulted in the cops being called. Had parties some with legal substances and some parties that weren't so legal where the cops have shown up. Never been arrested. However I'm not black.

This is a perfect example of why conservatism is headed towards permanent electoral loser status. It may shock the Yannis and Water Closets of the world but non-white citizens tend just as much as white ones to be conservative. The difference is that the Cobra Commanders and Plagiarizers who think they are libertarian minded conservatives end up turning political conservatism into an authoritarian movement with a thinly disguised disdain for non-whites.
Jefferson thought spilling a little blood once in a while in revolution against the state was good for liberty. Cobra Commander would think that means that every day cops should pick up black men off the street and execute them.
I'd say he's going to have opportunities and income he would never have had otherwise if he chooses that route.
