okay, so real race question...what do you all think about this whole Professor Gates fiasco? Is it out of hand? Why the did the President step in and say that the whole police force acted "stupidly"? Is stupidly even a word?

I haven't really heard as much about it since the recordings were released. I wonder why? I don't think the Pres stepped in, as in "intervened", I think he was asked his opinion at a press conference. Then he did what we see people do here on this board day after after day; he admitted "Um I don't really know any of the details..." and then proceeded to say something dumb about something he didn't know much about.
I don't know. The way I understood it, he and the professor are like "butt buddys" like ATRAIN and flo. And when he heard about it he was shocked that racism still exists. As if racism went away after he won the election. So, after making his remarks about Healthcare he had to make a statement about it. Having a "beer" with the cop and the professor is just an excuse for him and the professor to get together. I had heard about that, but forgot about it. I didn't read the article about it and didn't realize that it had added so much fuel to the fire. My whole point is....this would most likely have stayed within the Boston Press had Barack Obama not talked about it during his Press Conference.
