FC Barcelona is close to making Ricky Rubio a five-year offer worth $1.4 million annually with an escape clause allowing him to play in the NBA after two years.

Rubio was paid just $97,000 last season by DKV Joventut.

They knew not to draft this guy. Frigging idiots at the T-Wolves. How stupid can you be when Rubio already said he wasn't go to play there and if you drafted him, he could stay right where he was and continue to play in the Euroleague. Screw the T-Wolves and their wasted draft pick. They deserve every bit of the punking they got.

1.4 million a year? The 5th pick overall gets a better deal that that.
Would you play in Minnesota or stay in the best city in Spain where he is probably worshiped?

Why would you say that. Isn't the only way he plays for the Wolves next season is to pay 6.6M out of his own pocket? Kind of hard on a 97K/year salary.

I really don't see how the T-wolves lost out on this deal. They get to develop what will likely be the better of the two they drafted in Flynn. Rubio who is super young is going to look good no matter what happens overseas so his value will likely stay the same. The wolves are going to suck regardless.

With this guys age its no big loss if they bring him over in two years. If the team takes another direction his 2 year escape clause makes his rights super easy to trade.

At 18 he's not a game changer no matter how good he is.

Win/Win as far as I'm concerned.

I'll be laughing out loud even more if he has a career ending injury over there, and the Wolves never get him.
