Players see that trade as totally lopsided and the GM who approved that trade obviously was trying to make the Lakers better.

The lakers gave up Kwame Brown and Gasol, both are Starting Centers for their respective teams. What other team, if not the Lakers, gives up TWO starting centers for one power forward. Huge gamble by the Laker FO.

...or the fact they traded a much better player with a similar role (Gasol) not even 18 months ago.
Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol is a huge gamble for the Lakers, really.![]()
I'm sorry but
You can't be serious, trading the biggest bust of all time and someone that wasn't even on our team at the time for the missing piece that is responsible largely for two finals appearances in two years and a ring, that move was the furthest thing from a gamble.
Let's not refer to Kwame Brown as a starter now. That's just a disguise.
What a pathetic piece of you are. Ripping Nash for saying what everyone in the NBA believed. How dare Nash speak candidly about the Gasol trade. I'd guess you would rather have copout cliches from professional athletes. Your a typical arrogant Lakers fan who doesn't appreciate what Nash has brought to the NBA. He grew up on the westcoast of Canada and received no scholarship offers to a U.S. university. When Santa Clara finally gave him a scholarship he led them to NCAA tournament wins over Arizona and Maryland. They haven't been back since he left the school in 96. Sorry, but Nash busted his ass to get to where he is today.
Ut oh, angered Nash pole smoker.
Nash is acting like he's never had any talent around him to win a championship. He's had gobs of talent around him the majority of his career and has never done with it.
Man Robert Horry looks like Will Smith.
While I don't completely agree, I do respect him for expressing his opinion on the trade, the Gasol trade disrupted the entire west.
Tougheth lucketh.
they also gave up their franchise player who was paid accurately with his skillset.
jefferson is very overpaid for a guy who is a 4th option on a contender.
yeah, the grizz needed gasol's contract off their books so badly that they...just traded for zach randolph?
Stings, don't it?
Yeah, no kidding, how dare Nash speak about the Gasol trade right after he told his GM to trade a center that made the all star team and was 3rd all NBA for nothing.
Nash has never done ? Now that's a biased Lakers fan. And when did Nash ever say he didn't have talent around him? He has consistently praised the players he's had the opportunity to play with.
You know, whats funny is that if the Gasol trade was never made - , if Pau Gasol never even existed - Nash STILL wouldnt have a championship. Someone else would have won the le but it wouldnt have been Phx.
I dont get why he's still talking about it. He's played with like a half dozen allstars in his career, multiple ones on the same team, and come away with nothing to show for it.
Yeh Steve, but the sportswriters gave you TWO MVPS for nothing. Bitter bas . PLAY BALL!!
I wonder if Nash was as excited by the extension as he was on draft night:

But Steve, you'll get to score a lot of points and rack up lots of assists again now! That's what it's really all about, isn't it?
Not behind their backs, he hasn't... (see: Oneal, Shaquille)
1) Nash fans will say that he had the right to stab Shaq in the back because Shaq couldn't guard two players at once when Nash was too lazy to guard anyone.
2) Nash fans, as well as Nash himself, like to ignore the fact Nash went to Kerr and told him to trade Marion for Shaq because he said he couldn't deal with Marion anymore (which I actually agree with him on, but that's beside the point).
We all know the Gasol trade was bull . Lakers fans know it. They know it more than any of us.
Just cuz it's Steve Nash sayin' it don't make it not true.
