I'd give the Lakers the edge as far as the first 3. If you consider the bench it's easily the Blazers.

Btw I went with Boston cause of its defensive intensity and versatility.

I'm going Boston for defensive purposes. Perkins did a good job against Dwight Howard, and I think he'll step it up. Gasol and Bynum seem to be good scorers with ok defense, and Odom a good scorer with better defense.

Edge to Boston. They have 3 defensive monsters, and probably the perfect anti-shaq frontcourt. Bynum is still unproven and Garnett/Sheed are probably better than Gasol/Odom.

Boston essentially has 5 all-stars on their team. And an improving bench.

It's hard to say. The Celtics definitely have the edge on the defensive end while the Lakeshow have the advantage on the offensive end.

I'm gonna go with the Celtics overall because KG and Sheed can ball and Perkins is underrated.

^Sheed and RayRay are no longer all star level players.

I think Perkins is a large factor here. He's arguably become the best one on one post defender in the NBA, KG relies on him a lot more than most think.

Also, I want people to think about how much the league has improved. 4 years ago a team with Sheed, Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and todays Rajon Rondo would be hands down favorite to win multiple consecutive championships and be a dynasty. Even at their current ages.

This upcoming year they arent even the hands down favorite to win their conference.

I dont like what the league has turned into. Anything less than a stacked team and your not going anywhere. The 67 win Mavs from 2007 would barely crack 50 today. *sigh* Not supposed to be like this.

Bottom line: the NBA needs a hard salary cap.

They both need each other DOK. The Celts D suffered when KG went down for the year. At the same time if you replace Perkins, the D will suffer just as well especially against teams with strong frontcourts.

its c's unquestionably. IMO, this poll sucks at least for right now. Bynum hasn't proven other than he can play good for small stretches. That alone makes Boston's frontcourt much more enticing on paper. Bynum could step it up and play a big role this season, but you can bet on Artest taking his shots. They're going to have to come from somewhere.

But yeah, the top 3 teams in 2007 (Suns, Mavs, and Spurs), would arguably all not even be top 5 teams in today's NBA.

IMO, the current day Magic, Spurs, Lakers, Celtics and Cavs would beat all three of those teams. It's pretty remarkable how much the top of the league has improved. I would go on a broken record rant about how Suns fans don't understand this but I don't feel like it.

Perkins is one of the best big man defenders in the league. But Rasheed is a s of his former self and Garnett although good, is on a steep decline. Personally I'd rather have the Lakers front court. Especially if Bynum returns to his pre injury form (both times) and can actually stay healthy for once.

I agree, and that's my point. A lot of people think Perkins would be nothing without KG and KG makes him good, but KG wouldn't be able to focus on help defense and S/R defense if not for Perkins being able to guard the other team's low post threat so well.

And yeah, of course 'drew is the x-factor in this question. If he plays like he did right before his injury, LA's front court by a long shot. If he turns out to be a useless injury prone bust, Boston's front court wins.

Boston. Assuming Bynum sucks, if he doesn't then I think you have to give it to the Lakers.

If I was a fan of the Celtics I would have major concerns about KG though, the guy is 33 coming off a serious knee injury and has logged the most minutes of any player in the NBA right now.

Perkins is better than post-injury Bynum and worse than pre-injury Bynum. If the Lakers can avoid smashing into his knee this season I think we can see more of the latter.

Boston, Perkins can hold hes ground and did well vs D Howard

I can see him giving a hard time to Bynum, but both plays will cancel each other out.

KG is the man, he will score on anyone, Sheed will do hes thing and nothing the lakers can do about it...

Um, I agree with you that the C's front court is better, but if it's a ty poll, it sure as isn't because the C's front court is better judging by the results.

LA clearly has a better front court, and that's not even including Artest
