A strict system regardless of what culture you in. Just because you assume I meant there is only one system does not mean I ever implied it.
The western cultures have the most popular system. But there are multiple eastern cultures with different systems. The main differences are what groups of notes they put together, not the actual sounds themselves obviously.
Also, I immediately detailed after you ask that the system of music almost entirely comes from what local cultures discovered in their acoustics experiments over thousands of years.

rap wouldn't be because they don't correlate their efforts - which is what I've been trying to explain. You have no idea what you're talking about, so just stop.
When a singer sings, he/she doesn't just sing what they think sound good. They hit specific pitches which match what key they and the rest of the instrumentation of the song is in. Music isn't limited to just that, but its what you commonly see.
Even if a rapper raps by himself or "flows," unless he's hitting certain pitches he isn't even in key with HIMSELF.

I guess I don't. I didn't know people sang music in order to follow certain rules, I thought the beauty of music was the freedom singers had.
In every genre of popular music, roughly, except rap where its not considered much of an issue. You finally starting to understand?
