we only get blazers 3 times this year

the kings 4 time this year

and get the mavs early to put them in there place

but dont get LA until January

like the schedule besides the 3 game stretch vs boston,LA and CLevland

and the rodeo roadtrip is probably the toughest in year but spurs should have chemistry down by then

14 of the first 20 games at home? The Spurs will need to get off to a fast start this year. They need to take advantage of that.

The NBA's Christmas gift to the Spurs is a game in Milwaukee on the 26th followed by a game in New York the next day that starts two and a half hours earlier? That looks like it'll end up being the annual loss in Milwaukee and then Pop tanking against the Knicks.

The Rodeo Road Trip looks doable. The Spurs are at home from Jan. 19 all the way until Feb. 2. The RRT only has one back-to-back and the travel is pretty damn minimal. Can't complain about it.

The end of the schedule looks mean. 24 of the last 36 games are on the road. The Spurs don't have a homestand longer than two games after Feb. 1. And they only have two two-game homestands

Overall, this schedule could work out nicely but it requires the Spurs to start strong. They can't start slowly like usual and then try to go on a tear at the end because there are too many road games packed into not enough days. Best scenario is the Spurs get all the kinks worked out early on, rack up wins and then turn on the playoff mode starting with the RRT and going through the end of the season. Considering that they will barely be able to unpack after the RRT (and I don't see where there will be many practices), the momentum needs to be flowing in a positive direction or else it could be a crash landing.

yeah more pressure to win early this year
    kind of sucks
but atleast spurs are at home
crowd needs to get behind them
hopefully everyone is healthy to start the season

    No Christmas day game
Good, let the players spend this year with their family. We certainly got a nice enough gift last year.

Chalk up the Cleveland visit to San Antonio on March 26th as a loss... 4th game in 5 nights (after a game with the Lakers no less)... followed thereafter by a trip to Boston on the 28th....

    Thanks, deck. Great breakdown.

Not too many difficult B2Bs. The worst is probably the Utah/Portland job, but all the others contain some relatively easy opponents.

The stretch run this year is going to be intense.

What's the link for this, out of curiosity? (Edit: Found it. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/...-Schedule.html )

I have a feeling this is going to be a major point of contention for the players union in new CBA negotiations. If the players can get fewer back-to-backs, I'm all for it.

Ooo, how about this one? First game against Memphis is the second night of a back-to-back. Can you say extended minutes for DeJuan Blair vs. Hasheem Thabeet?
