Bowen signing.
I think i remember seeing a quote on here about the FO saying there is still more to come. It came out right after RJ was signed i believe. if that is so, was the addition of mcdyess the "more to come" or is there still, more to come?
dude he's not coming back...let it go
IIRC, this statement was made by either Buford or Pop immediately following the Jefferson signing, right before draft day.
Since then, we've added Haislip, Blair, McClinton, McDyess, and Raitliff.
I could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect too many more big moves from the Spurs going forward. Maybe some strings will be pulled to bring in Bowen, but more than likely, this is the crew we'll be going to season with (giving us a few midseason trade chips, to boot)
I'm completely satisfied with who we got. Let's roll.
Id say we are about done this offseason.
We don't need anyone else right now. I'm guessing we'll stick with what we have until the trade deadline, assess our biggest need at that point, and move accordingly.
i think they sit pat until midseason, see how the new blood pans out, and make a move at the trade deadline if needed...could be some real bargains out there from the non contenders looking to dump money
I hope not. The Spurs system is too complex and needs to be executed to Popp's standards. Too many newbies trying to learn this at the same time could be a disaster IMO.
And what do your Ego and Super Ego have to say?
+1
And I think for the new blood, with Malik Hairston's guaranteed contract, Bowen is less likely to return. Marcus Williams has a chance to be 3rd PG option. The roster is complete. Spurs next move will certainly be at midseason.
+2
but I still hope, that we have a place for Bruce
I have been wondering about this for weeks now! After such an exciting offseason, I would assume people would want it to continue. Anyway, I think it depends on what happens in the week or so with Bruce Bowen. If they go after Bruce, to me, it means that the front office is no longer high on Finley and he can be packaged in a trade. If they don't, then it appears they fill comfortable with the current roster. I would like one more move to happen honestly...
Drive for 5ive![]()
Just saw Bruno's post about contract, Hairston and Milliams's contract are mainly or fully unguaranteed. Anyhow they are about to enter trainning camp. It's just an unexpected off-season.
... a championship![]()
, never a bad time to make a Freudian joke at someone else's punctuational faux paux
add Haislip to that group and we may have a rosterspot for whoever
It will depend pretty heavily on what happens with Hairston, Williams, Mahimni and Haislip. From where we stand, there are number of scenarios that could play out. If Haislip shows a lot of promise and Mahimni start to struggle the there is a good chance the FO would pull the trigger on something like Bonner/Finley for Foster. It has also been discussed that we might add a defensive wing...and Hairston's ability to contribute will probably be key in that. We still have the LLE too.
If I was a betting man, I'd say we start the season with the players that are under contract now and make moves after we get a good look at what we have.
I have a funny feeling there's something else coming and I somehow keep coming back to a reunion of Pop and Raja Bell. It makes sense for the Spurs and makes a lot of sense for Bell, and could easily make sense for the Bobcats.
Just a hunch.
I believe that could happen. Bell, and a backup point. I could see both happening.
I'm not convinced they're done. The roster as it stands is loaded with small 4's and PF/C's and short on swing men and a 3rd PG. But I guess they could be waiting till mid season to see who becomes available.
