Eh, they have to slow down sometime, if not we'll just take the wild card.

I can only imagine how the 2001 A's felt

They won 102 games, which will give you the best record in baseball any other year, but they still finished 14 games behind Seattle who won a record 116

The A's easily took the wild card because they won way more than anybody else did

Neftali Feliz made his major league debut in the 6th inning. The result? Three K's and I think two 100 mph pitches in the inning, and several other 98-99. Damn he looked good.

this guy seriously has the nastiest stuff ive ever seen.

gets all 6 batters out and strikes out the first four he sees in his DEBUT!

He went from 101 mph to that nasty slider at about 82 both for strikes, this is crazy!

Closing Time: 101 reasons to enjoy Neftali Feliz

    By Andy Behrens

As major league debuts go, a reliever can't deliver a line much better than this: two innings, no hits, no walks, four Ks. Those were Neftali Feliz's(notes) numbers from Monday night.
There are plenty of logical reasons to discount the 21-year-old's performance, of course. It was just two innings against the A's, one of the American League's least productive lineups. And one of the Ks was Jack Cust(notes). Everyone strikes him out.
Still, there's no such thing as an unimpressive 101 miles an hour. That was the radar reading for Feliz's final pitch: 101. He hit triple-digits more than once, actually, and touched 99 eight other times. Feliz faced the top of the Oakland batting order in the sixth inning and struck out the side (all swinging). He then punched out Cust, coaxed a groundball from Ryan Sweeney(notes) and a foul pop from Tommy Everidge(notes). Two innings into his big league career, Feliz remains perfect. He entered the season as the top prospect in Texas' system according to Baseball America, so the success isn't a complete surprise.
Feliz will be a starter long-term, and presumably a good one. But over the final two months of the 2009 season, he'll be a member of the Rangers' bullpen. If he brings tonight's stuff to the ballpark every day, he'll be simply unfair.
He should have been a sideshow in a game that featured a walkoff triple from Rajai Davis(notes), eight strikeouts from Brett Anderson(notes), five innings of one-hit ball from Dustin Nippert(notes) and a rare blown save from CJ Wilson(notes). But in the fantasy community -- or at least among dynasty owners -- Feliz was the story. Everything else was distraction.

OK..so a day after the big showing, he's national? Damn...how long till the Yankees pick his ass up.

lose 3 in a row to the freaking A's and at the same time the Angels lose 2 in a row and we cant make ground. God dammit....no we are tied for 2nd in the wild card with Tampa. Things are not looking got at all. Kinsler, Cruz and Millwood hurt isnt helping us

86 wins or more and I'm happy. The playoffs were a pipe dream anyways.

What sucks is that if Josh & Ian didn't have their heads up their asses for most of the season, the Rangers would be ahead of the Angels right now.

Figures it would work out this way. The pitching has been great all year, and our big hitters all suck. Only the Rangers would find a way to be one of the best hitting teams in baseball for years and then stop hitting as soon as the pitching starts getting good.

Young is having a MVP season. Hunter looks legit and Feliz is a prodigy. I think 88+ wins and being compe ive through September would be awesome. Next year is the year but hopefully we can make something out of this year. Boston is slippin' and we own the Angels this year.

dissapointing series but if we were gonna win one, this was the one to win going to LA.

Hopefully we get our bats back this series. Despite losing 3 out of 4 we're only 2 games back of Boston who is really struggling
