Cowboys fans at the Super Bowl XLI party I was at after the Colts won: "Dude! We beat the Colts in the regular season! So we really won the Super Bowl! Six rings gots!"

That actually happened. Except for the six rings gots part.

And since it came up, I'll just chip in:

The city/state team loyalty thing is a really tricky bas of a concept. On one hand, it gives people in the area watercooler material to talk about while they count money in an office at Valero or troll UTSA's ty football program on SpursTalk while actually being employed by UTSA. But everyone has a different story. I'm a Spurs fan because I moved to San Antonio as a kid and started going to games. I'm a Longhorns fan because my mother graduated from there and she took me to tons of Horns games as a kid (I'd have gone there myself but I got a rejection letter from them saying I was too white, not Asian/Arab enough, and didn't have an ex-fratboy daddy with tons of oil money. Seriously, I still have the letter). I'm a Colts fan because Peyton Manning makes funny commercials (not really, I just don't want to give 90210 easy access to the real story. But that guy's pretty good...).

Bottom line is it shouldn't matter where you're from or where you're team's from, as long as you don't root for that team exclusively to put that "Five rings got" pic in your signature.

I pieced the Cowboys with McNabb in Madden today. Broseph was running the corner blitz on every down and I was slicing that D up like warm cherry pie. Kind of forgot Westbrook was on the team until I threw a two point conversion to him at the end... it's just who needs Westbrook when McNabb was holdin' it down with the QB scramble?

Then I beat the Chargers by a FG in overtime with the Colts after being down by 18 at half and missing a FG at the end of regulation to win. Go yourself, San Diego.

Dude..I dig Peyton..you don't need an excuse to like Peyton..or the Colts. I have respect for them. And I actually agree with you 100%...bandwagon fans piss me off. I've been a fan of the Boys my entire life..back before Troy..before Irvin..before Emmitt.

What if you live in West Texas but lived in Dallas you're whole life and have always rooted for Dallas teams?

Do i have to pass ST's inspection test just to keep rooting for them? Ironically led by two Colts fans who live nowhere near Indy

IMO, it doesn't matter where you live as long as you stick with the team you root for no matter what. A lot of these people who claim to be Cowboys fans weren't around for the 3-13 and 1-15 seasons in the 80's and mysteriously disappeared in the Campo years as well. When I first became a fan, Craig Morton was the starter and have been there ever since. Personally, and I have said this before, I have more respect for a Redskins fan who has stuck by his team through good and bad times then I do a Cowboys fan who only pops their head out when the team is winning. So if you really want to impose your own personal rules about how others should do things...go ahead but you are just proving yourself to be a moron.

BTW, when did it become a crime to not like the Cowboys? I see some Dallas fans here talking about people who don't like the Cowboys then doing the same thing to someone else because they like a different team. You don't like it when someone makes fun of you because of your favorite team, then you continue to make it personal by doing the same thing. If you are going to let it bother you when someone dogs your team, then you are letting that person in your head and you let them get to you. Getting butthurt and getting into flaming wars only makes it worse.

Its simple, all that matters is what happens on the field. Nothing else does and if you believe that, you are a fool.

I never really understood the whole you have to be from the town to root for that team argument. We had a similar argument last year with College teams (not being able to root for a team unless you went to that school) . Even though 90210 is a I have to admit the guy seems like he has been a fan a long time. I grew up in the RGV which hosts some of the most hardcore Cowboys fans I have seen. People get into fights down there with non cowboy fans at bbqs and . I grew up watching the cowboys but I was an oilers fans out of spite to my uncles. They hated it and dogged me for it so my hatred for the cowboys is rooted deep. Once the oilers left I was without a team for a few years cause there was no way in I was going to root for the ans, I hate them almost as much as the cowgirls and of course the whole Vince Young sucking has made me hate them more. During the time when I didnt have a team I cheered for Tampa Bay for many reasons and the worst thing that could have happend did. They won a championship so of course all of my Cowboy buddies called me......yeah you guessed it a bandwagon fan. I wasnt really a fan though I just really liked that defense. I was a John Lynch fan. So Houston gets a team back and im forever a Texans fan even through the bad.

    Yeah I know lol Texans

    lol cowboys

    Agreed.

In High School, I still rocked the Cowboys gear even though they weren't doing well and got for it. A lot of those same people were wearing Super Bowl t-shirts a few years later.

I think I hate fairweather fans more than bandwagon fans.

Example the year the stros went to the series I was watching from spring training on. No one ever said and never wanted to watch, then they had a magical 2nd half of the season and had a pretty amazing playoffs and all of a sudden everyone around was watching and they were the same fans giving me for watching from spring training.

ing Astros piss me off every night, but I watch every night.

The thing about Cowboy fans that annoys me is that they feel they are so privileged that they have the right to get every good free agent, every good draft pick and they are the greatest franchise ever. That's not the case. They are just a mediocre franchise that just happened to have a good team in the 70's when there were only really 2 or 3 good teams. The early 90's was a great run but if you haven't done for over a decade the fans should realize what a mediocre franchise the Cowboys really are and they don't have a "right" to anything. If the fans were actually humble then I wouldn't have a problem with them.

That is the same reason I hate Lakers and Yankee fans as well.

I disagree about being a mediocre franchise historically but in the 2000's you are correct, they are 71-73 so technically they are two games below mediocrity! Also there is nothing wrong with wanting your team to get the best available players. I don't know of anyone who has ever said Dallas is "en led" but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

You probably should see who's checking your fandom of a team. Cuz last time I checked mookie2001 wasn't a Colts fan.
