Ex-Rockets guard Wafer signs with Olympiakos
Free agent guard Von Wafer has signed a two-year, $10 million deal to play for Olympiakos, the same Greek team that landed Linus Kleiza from the Nuggets earlier this week.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard will leave for Greece on Friday, said Giovanni Funiciello, who is Wafer’s international agent.
The contract will allow Wafer to opt out after one season, but only to sign with an NBA team. Wafer confirmed the deal Wednesday after it was reported by KRIV-TV in Houston.
Wafer, 24, averaged 9.7 points and shot 39 percent from 3-point range for the Rockets in 2008-09. He made about $800,000 in his only season in Houston.
Funiciello said the offer from the Greek team was the best one Wafer got over the summer.
“Financially, he wasn’t going to get that type of an offer in the NBA,” Funiciello said. “As far as I knew, he really didn’t have anything concrete as far as the NBA was concerned.”
The Greek club team also recently signed former Denver forward Linas Kleiza.
Denver Nuggets officials said this week that Kleiza has agreed to a two-year deal with Olympiakos worth more than $12 million.

So how do you explain then that guys like V-Span, Childress, Pargo and others just suck after they changed from NBA to Europe or vice versa?
Some are able to adjust in time and be great players (e.g. Scola, Parker) and other's struggle so bad? Why is Duncan a future hall of famer in the NBA but struggles in FIBA tournaments? Saying that Euroleague and NBA are on the same level and saying that the systems are not different makes you sound like someone not knowing anything about basketball.
Spanoulis is far better than those other players like Pargo and Childress. Please just stop. It is a fact he was ruined by his coach in the NBA over a personal dispute. Everyone knows it.
When are the Olympiakos going to do some exhibition games in the States in high school gymnasiums? It shouldn't be THAT much of a change from the arenas they play in back at home!
