Tropical wave 90L off the coast of Africa looks like it has what it takes to make it...

Unfortunately if this thing makes a hurricane this high pressure ridge that has been killing us with heat here in Texas is projected to slide off to the East which will create the perfect race track for the hurricane to shoot the Yucatan gap into the gulf...With Atlantic and Gulf temps close to record highs this could grow into a monster. Obviously a lot can happen in the next couple of weeks to change this but it doesn't look good...

I'm cool with a hurricane ONLY if it goes in between Port Mansfield and Brownsville where there is nothing to hurt and we can get rain.

I have a hard time wishing for a hurricane in the gulf under any other conditions. Corpus/Port Aransas is overdue for another ass kicking and I would really hate to see them get all ed up.

Still not on the main loop of the NHC. Extended view shows impressive cloud cover and cooling cloud tops, but no serious development yet. Still, with the Atlantic waters untapped, we'll probably see more advanced cyclogenesis later today.
