I selected the Tavern for $1.50 well drinks, then went to the Pub for a $12.00 rib eye!!!

No, no, no! Both exist in England and Ireland, but a long, long time ago pubs (i.e public houses) served the general public, while taverns were private and served only private guests. Today they are the exact same thing
