Well, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over the first preseason game.![]()
Considering he's a rookie playing with 2nd and 3rd string offensive lines and receivers, not too bad. No horrible turnovers. He might have had a touchdown pass if the receiver in the end zone had kept running the same direction instead of stopping to point out he was open.
I hope he succeeds in the NFL, he was a good leader in College Station and seemed like a nice guy.
lol @ rayray bashing the Cowboys, saying they're going to have a bad season after one preseason loss, and then bashing someone for saying preseason games matter in the NBA forum.
I'll be at next week's game against the ans. Just found out earlier today. I'm pumped.![]()
Dude..so jealous...congrats man.
Here are my thoughts...
Our second series is basically what we're gonna have to do the whole year in order to be successful. Run the ball, control clock and live off playaction
Our first series showed exactly the opposite.
Our defense looks like they just need more practice in games. We were in the right spots but weren't making plays.
Felix looks like he will be a beast
God forbid we lose anybody this season because our lack of depth is extremely scary and glaringly obvious
2nd half was just ugly for both teams and was only good to watch for some comedy but nobody on the field in that half will see the field in the real season.
One thing that still bothers me is the fact that our execution still looks as sloppy as last year. The Cowboys look like a high school team compared to others in the league the way they run their plays. Eagles, Colts, Pats, and Steelers execute their plays to perfection and we still look sloppy like last year and unfortunately i expect the same result. 8-8 or 9-7 until Wade gets fired![]()
We could lose 40-0, and it wouldn't take away the excitement of that being the first football game played in Jerry World. This is sweet.
Now I'm just working to get press credentials for future regular season games. That will REALLY make my day.
lol cowboys
Holy , I didn't expect the Raiders to put the ing beat down on the Cowgirls, sweet.
Yeah, not the way you want to bounce back from 44-6.
Good game from the Raiders. I was very pleased all around. Their first unit was solid. Russell looked very crisp and accurate, hitting his recievers between the numbers consistently. McFadden looked healthy and explosive as ever. Schillens looks VERY solid. There was a play that he fell to the ground when making the catch, and jumped back up in about .0000000001 seconds which was very impressive. Huff looked solid, although it sucked for him that he was called for that ticky tack interference penalty. As long as he can keep making tackles, he should be able to win his job back. Bush looked healthy and peppy. The defense played well, and there was at least a little more blitzing out of them than usual, which was nice to see.
I don't care about that final score, I just wanted to see the first and second units perform well, and they both did.
Gonna be an ugly season for the cowgirls.Yep.....I called it.Holy , I didn't expect the Raiders to put the ing beat down on the Cowgirls, sweet.![]()
I agree the only way the cowgirls will win is if they run the ball and utilize the play action. Either way the first unit looked pretty bad.........well either that or the Raiders def is that good.
Observations from Cowboys - Raiders:
The Good
* Romo looked sharp and I liked how he spread the ball around to his playmakers in the 2nd possession.
* The first team offense, after a shaky first possession, showed it has some serious weapons on the 2nd possession. Felix Jones, Marty B, Barber and Whitten all made some great plays.
* The starting O-Line looked competent but penalties are starting to reel their ugly head again. The holding penalty by Kosier on the 1 yard line was inexcusable.
* I liked Brooking's blitz from the linebacker position, he seems to have some explosion to the QB. I think Zach Thomas would have whiffed on that sack of Russell.
* Sam Hurd looks to be back to his preseason form from last year. I think he has a good chance to be either the 2nd or 3rd WR on this team. He certainly moved up a notch in front of Miles Austin after that Crayton-esque drop in the open field.
* Tashard Choice, even behind some bad 2nd team blocking, is showing he has some nice skills for a 3rd string back. It was a shame his long run was brought back because of Hurd's holding penalty.
* I think Kitna showed in his limited time that he is 100 times better than Brad (Grandpa Checkdown) Johnson ever was in his time here.
The Bad
* Isiah Stanback (Burrito) is a failed bit at kickoff returns. He doesn't have any explosiveness and seems to run into the pile. I am starting to think we should have kept Hawkins from '4th and Long', he looked like he had some serious return skills. I'm hoping Felix (the Scat) is the opening day return man.
* 11 penalties for 109 yards? So much for stricter Wade instilling discipline into these guys. This is the same error prone bunch as last year.
* We had better hope the starting O-line doesn't suffer any major injuries, our backups are horrible. I don't understand how Cory Proctor continues to keep his job, he is a toll booth as a blocker and his costly shotgun snap in the goal line was inexcusable.
* The 2nd team O-line weren't the only spares out there, our 2nd team defense is almost as bad. They got absolutely no pressure on the QB and were shredded in the secondary by the likes of Bruce Gradkowski. Mickens, Ball and Brown have a big bag of nothing. BTW, Darren Mcfadden is going to be a stud this year.
* Was '4th and Long' really that much of a time waste? Jesse Holley didn't see the field until 5 minutes left in the game. He couldn't have sucked any worse than Willie Reed or Kevin Ogletree could he?
* Did any of our draft picks from last year do anything positive? I guess Mcgee wasn't a huge embarrassment but is definitely a work in progress. Buehler had a nice touchback? This draft class is looking more and more failed.
Overall, this was a very disappointing performance and reeked of the end of 2009. No funeral...
lol raiders
I just saw the highlights from last nights game and even though the raiders killed the cowboys ESPN only showed 3 plays:
Romo to Williams
Romo TD pass to Witten
Jamarcus gets sacked

Can't really take anything from the 1st preseason game since it's the first football game for these guys in months except the depth is extremely inexperienced. Let's hope for progress through the next ps games.
The first series was horrible, the second one was a lot better
The problem was the defense. The Raiders had such a ty offensive attack yet we still allowed them to march down the field.I think they forgot to turn the calendar from December
Sadly +1
After watching the game two things occurred to me. 1) The Cowboys need to add a veteran corner. There's still some guys out there that can help shore up this young and inexperienced group. If injuries happen, I'm not confident at all with the young guys. I know it's one game, so maybe if they don't pick up their game in the second preseason game, then it's time to bring someone in. 2) I think the receiver position will be just fine. I still think they will miss T.O. and his production, but I think if Romo can spread the ball around like he did during the second drive, they can put up some numbers. Using all your weapons would be a great benefit, and that's what I saw out of the second drive. Using MB24, Felix, Bennett, Roy, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, and of course Witten will be fun to watch.
The Raiders and ESPN are equally pathetic and ty.
lol preseason smack
Thankfully the most important thing in sports is not wins and losses, it's what replays are shown on ESPN.
