MJ stepped away from the game on top at the age of 35.(well he came back for the wyzards at 38 but everyone knows that more of a gimmick than anything since he was part owner). Tim will be 34 next year with just as much wear and tear on his tires as MJ had. His foot and knee problems are getting worse and if he can squeeze out a le this year, its just my opinion that he will retire. I'm not being mean or trying to stir things up...its just a gut feeling. Hey, I hope I'm wrong. I recently converted to being a Spurs fan, so I dont want to only enjoy Duncan for 1 season....I'd like to see him stick around for many more.

Duncan is a pretty complex guy... I think it's safe to say that nobody at spurstalk has any idea what's in his mind concerning this topic.
Tim Duncan is under contract until 2012.
Which means if Tim Duncan were to do something completely un-Tim Duncan-like, such as break his contract with his one and only team, then the Spurs could hold him legally negligent for that breach.
So I don't think it matters whether the Spurs win, the Spurs lose, or monkeys start flying out of Mark Cuban's butt, Tim won't be retiring after this year.
Duncan's signed a contract extension which will keep him knotted with Spurs till 2012, until then I don't think Tim should choose to retire.
Tim Duncan has given no indication of wanting to hang'em up anytime soon. If anything he seems more hungry with each passing season.
Not to nit pick, but you are using "Legally negligent" incorrectly.
Intentionally breaking a contract is what I think you mean, in contrast to negligent in a legal context, which means unintentionally causing harm to others, but still being liable (as in tort) because your act was not reasonable (i.e., dangerous to others in a way you could have prevented, and that you were responsible for). Thus, it does not make sense to use negligent with a willful act, which TD breaking his K (contract shorthand).
In a contract context, Tim willfully violating his contract might be considered a breach...but others have retired for medical reasons, and Tim has a chronic knee condition that causes pain. He could probably use that if he wanted to leave the game.
