With that said I don't necessarily feel that you're en led to fully own a word or its use. Many words have universal value. Coke can typically be used for just about any soft drink. Obviously the word " " is pretty lateral across the board. Vagina, Jew, slave, , re ed, dunce, Metro, fat/phat, gangsta, redneck so on. Its not attacking your race. In your world is it not verbiage pertaining to preference? Whether born with or chosen.
Gay can mean stupid. It doesn't always have to be about you. Its not a sexual reference and it has no particular derogatory value directed at the sexuals whatsoever. Its not your word to begin with, you can't get mad when someone steals the word you stole. Obviously you guys don't when its used in its original form to mean "happy/joyous" but all of sudden its off limits when used to describe something in a negative tone.
Maybe if you guys/gals/dualgenitals let go of the term a bit it'll start to lose some of its luster in regard to discrimination.
Let it go already. Stop being gay about it. And stop those gay commercials already.
