our schedule for the rest of the year...

    4 vs Minnesota (3-1)
    3 at Tampa Bay (1-2)
    3 at NY Yankees (1-2)
    3 at Minnesota (1-2)
    4 vs Toronto (2-2)
    3 at Baltimore (2-1)
    3 at Cleveland (3-0)
    3 vs Seattle (2-1)
    3 vs Oakland (2-1)
    3 vs LA Angels (2-1)
    4 at Oakland (3-1)
    3 vs Tampa Bay (2-1)
    4 at LA Angels (2-2)
    3 at Seattle (2-1)

My predicition is 28-18 for a final record of 94-68. Rangers have a tough stretch coming up on the road but once that trip is over, the schedule becomes very favorable when they can really make the push to the playoffs

    Rangers cut ties with Padilla

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers are cutting their ties with pitcher Vicente Padilla.
The Rangers put the right-hander on unconditional waivers Monday for the purpose of releasing him. The Rangers say he's expected to clear waivers and become a free agent on Wednesday.
The Rangers designated Padilla for assignment on Aug. 7, beginning a 10-day period in which the club could trade or release him, or assign him outright to the minor leagues.
Padilla was 8-6 with a 4.92 ERA in 18 starts for Texas this season. Originally acquired in December 2005 in a trade with Philadelphia, Padilla was 43-34 with a 4.90 ERA over the last four seasons with the Rangers.

I like this kid Tommy Hunter. He had trouble early on with his location but he bounced back and delivered a solid ball game.

I officially "applied" for press credentials for the Rangers today. I figured I would try for them first before attempting it later for the Cowboys. If I can get them for the Rangers, it will give me more of a reason for the Cowboys to do the same. Cross your fingers. If I get lucky, I can't tell you how excited I will be.

    Gladly.

Nippert, Hunter, Feldman, and Holland are all in the starting rotation that weren't when the season started. They took over for McCarthy, Padilla, Benson, and Harrison. Harrison is out for the season, McCarthy is on the DL, Benson sucked and was demoted, and Padilla was kicked to the curb.

Nippert was acquired on March 28, 2008 in a trade with Arizona for Jose Marte. Hunter was taken by Texas in the supplemental draft in 2007. Feldman was taken in the 30th round in the 2003 draft by the Rangers. He started the season in the bullpen, sucked, moved to the starting rotation, and started kicking ass. Holland was drafted by Texas in the 25th round in 2006. He was called up on April 18, made his major league debut from the bullpen on April 22, made his first start on May 22, and has since settled into the rotation, occasionally making a few relief appearances as well.

Does that answer your question? Do I pass?

I still remember that complete game by him in Houston on Labor Day weekend.

    He looked AWESOME.

That being said, honestly, who does he supplant in the rotation RIGHT NOW?

    Nippert is pitching well
Hunter is unreal good right now
Holland has done nothing lately to get tossed out.
    Millwood the ace
    Feldman is a stud.

    An amazing Rangers problem.

    Too many good starting pitchers.

IMO Nippert would be the oddman out. A good long man in the bullpen is an awesome luxury.

Nippert's ERA as a reliever is much better than a starter. I would say he would be back to the bullpen with Mathis sent down since he never gets any work anyways.

Red Sox win 10-9, Angels win 5-4. Just brutal.

Rangers up 6-5 with a huge chance at more.
