People don't act like its the first time you've heard that LeBron is one of the fastest players round.
I seriously doubt that. My comment is not sarcastic. Darko has top ten overall speed in the NBA. He sucks, but he is fast. LeBron shouldn't be on the list because of relative speed.
are you dumb? he\s fast for his position and weight, there's no way he comes even close to being top 10 in speed in the NBA.
I aCTUALLY agree with BRHORNET for once!!! Lebron is very fast for a forward he IS NOT in the top 3 of the NBAspeed-wise.
Harris, Parker, Brooks, westbrook/Rose and TJ Ford/Rondo are my top guys
What's funny is Sprewell could probably get off his couch today and be faster than half the guys on that list.
I don't know, man. When Lebron hits full stride on a break, aint no one gonna catch him. His legs are so long that it probably takes him about 10-12 strides to get from one end of the court to the other.
I wouldn't rank him that high, but LeBron is one of the fastest players in the league, regardless of any qualification, size or weight or position. He's one of the fastest, especially once he has momentum built. He's built like the modern 100/200 meter sprinters.
But, I agree that Wade should be on that last somewhere, and I don't even like the guy.
Lebron is arguably the fastest player in the NBA no doubt.
His size and speed would be hard to out run one he gets into his stride.
Do draft day workouts include a running speed measure?
Have you guys ever watched Lebron run? Theres no doubt in my mind he can beat almost any player in a 40 yard dash
I understand the criticism of Lebron as the basketball player (sometimes, not often) but how can anyone argue his pure athleticism? He can jump higher than everyone, he is strong, very agile...what makes you think he's not fast as ?
He may be fast as , but that doesnt make him top ten in the NBA... sorry, but just because his name is Lebron James doesn't mean he needs to be included in every single list possible. It's ok to leave him off every once in a while. I bet if someone made a list for the most underhyped NBA player, Lebron would also make that list at number 1...
Keep in mind that there are multiple reasons why the opposing teams choose not to chase him on a fast break. The top 2 reasons that I can think of are:
1. No one wants to get dunked on.
2. No one can catch him.
You're more likely to see someone chase Tony Parker or Chris Paul down the court than you will see someone chasing LBJ.
Lebron can run so fast because he doesn't have to dribble the ball.
Over a 100M sprint, LeBron might be the quickest in the league. But in terms of NBA speed, over the length of a court or half a court, i dont think hes in the top 10. If you talk relative to his size, then again, sure hes up the top somewhere, but i dont think thats what the guy who wrote the article ment.
You could find all the 3 quarter court sprint times from the last decades pre draft camps on www.draftexpress.com ... but i cant be ed looking.
Checked it before. During 2003, there were no records of his 3/4 court sprint. According to that, Derrick Rose has a time of 3.05 seconds on a 3/4 sprint accross the court. So if LeBron is to be faster or even significantly, he would have to break the 3 second mark, which is very difficult to accomplish. Bah, screw what I just said, Joe Alexander recorded a 2.99 seconds in that run.
Not only that, I got curious and looked at Kevin Durant's speed and realised he only recorded a 3.45 which is kind of slow because centers like Oden recorded a 3.27.
I also took a look at a Spurs fan favourite in George Hill and realised he had amazing hops as his standing vertical leap is 34 inches, higher than Gordon, Mayo and other lottery picks from the same draft. Rose beat him by 0.5 inches.
He also recorded a 3.07 in the sprint and had a lane agility of 12.2 seconds compared to Rose's 3.07 in the 3/4 sprint and 11.69 for lane agility. George Hill could bench press 9 while Rose could get a 10.
I also noticed that George Hill's max vertical is only 37 inches which is extremely low for someone who had recorded 34 inches on a no step since Rose, Gordon and Mayo recorded at the 40s for max verticals.
