There is an indirect chain... but a connection none-the-less. Also, these are not the only European roads to the Men's Olympic Basketball in 2012. Host team gets a berth and then there is also the Olympic Qualifier inter-continental tourney.
    WTF?

France CANNOT qualify for Olympics by 2009 Eurobasket. This is a fact.

This is qualifying for 2010 World Championship. Nothing at all to do with 2012 Olympics.
You already acknowledged that Eurobasket 2009 "is qualifying for 2010 World Championship" and that the winner of the World Championship gains an automatic berth in Olympics. Whether France or another European team qualifying from Eurobasket 2009 wins WC in Turkey (see Spain 3 yrs. ago), there is a connection.

Next time, you will learn not to speak in absolutes, i.e. nothing, never, always, etc.

Why do you call people idiots or dumb *** when you run out of support to substantiate your arguments?

KBP: You can never get the color orange from the color yellow.

Common sense: Well, sure if you color with yellow and then add red to it...you can get the color orange.

    KBP: Idiot!

Common sense: Sure think about it. Try it and see for yourself. Absorb it and holla' back when you get it.

KBP: IDIOT!! You CANNOT use a yellow crayon and

Why should I care now? I have asked nicely many times to not be pinked and never even get a response. Plus I never did anything wrong in the first place to get it. So now there is no reason for me to worry about it. Why should I be worried about what I say when nothing will get me unpinked anyway.

It actually said "The French National Team is doing their best to qualify for the 2009 Eurobasket, a key tournament in earning a berth to the 2012 Olympics in London."

...Like I said these tournaments are connected in a progression. I think it's the Top 6 teams in Eurobasket 2009 (plus 3 wild card teams and 7 that have to go through qualifiers) receive berths in Eurobasket 2011. For sure, the top 2 teams in Eurobasket 2011 go to the 2012 Olympics with the next 4 finishers going to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

I would say that considering the chain of progression just mentioned, the 2009 Eurobasket is a key tournament in earning a berth to the 2012 Olympics in London.

Belgium beats Portugal 60-58 and wins Group A. If I understand the tiebreaker rules, the first game between France and Belgium will be held in Belgium. France will have the advantage of having the second game at home.

That's the best case with Belgium and the second game at home. It will take a huge choke job to miss the Euro...

Mike Pietrus said yesterday that he will join the NT next week if his wrist is healthy. I'm still skeptical and I don't think he will join the NT but who knows...

    A logical explanation given above:

It actually said "The French National Team is doing their best to qualify for the 2009 Eurobasket, a key tournament in earning a berth to the 2012 Olympics in London."

...Like I said these tournaments are connected in a progression. I think it's the Top 6 teams in Eurobasket 2009 (plus 3 wild card teams and 7 that have to go through qualifiers) receive berths in Eurobasket 2011. I would say that considering the chain of progression just mentioned, the 2009 Eurobasket is a key tournament in earning a berth to the 2012 Olympics in London.

    Proceeded by nonsense:

What is wrong with the idiot that keeps making up the lie that the 2009 Eurobasket qualifies you to the 2012 Olympics? Obviously he is re ed.
This seems to be corroborated by more "lies" spread by the AP news:

English basketball dispute dents qualification chances for 2012 Olympics

GENEVA (AP) _ Britain's hopes of qualifying for the basketball tournament at the 2012 London Olympics are in jeopardy because of a dispute between national authorities and the sport's world governing body.

FIBA, the international basketball federation, said Wednesday it will suspend all of the British team's English players as of June 15 because British sporting authorities are withholding funds for the program.

The move puts a major dent in Britain's efforts to qualify for the Olympics, because the team will now be unable to call up NBA-based England players such as Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls.

``We cannot accept that governments interfere in the affairs of sport and dissolve our membership,'' FIBA spokesman Florian Wanninger said. ``This will completely jeopardize their campaign to qualify for the 2012 Olympics. This is a serious consequence.''

Sport England's move to withhold funding for basketball follows an official review of the sport in England. The review declared basketball ``not fit for purpose'' and called for the English governing body to be disbanded.

``We don't understand the conclusion. They've had considerable success in improving the situation of teams and players eligible,'' Wanninger said, adding that the suspension of the English association was the only option possible as long as there is ``a power struggle over control of the sport.''

Britain is 2-2 in its qualifying games for the 2009 European championship, which will determine which teams compete at the 2012 Games.

It is factually IMPOSSIBLE to qualify for Olympics through this Eurobasket. There is a site called FIBA.com Perhaps you and others here should look at it instead of all arguing a point which is factually wrong like you are doing.

I think it's been made clear that Eurobasket 2009 does not directly qualify NTs for the Olympics in 2012. Eurobasket 2009 does provide a pathway, or progression, toward qualifying for an Olympic berth. What's so difficult to understand about that?
