I think you still associate DiCaprio with anic, which was an awful movie.

I've not a bad thing to say about Tom Hanks. I generally love his movies; he's a charismatic guy and a great actor.
I liked anic and my oldest daughter still watches it every few months or so.
DiCaprio was fantastic in The Departed.

btw - Both Monos and Stretch were obsessed with the Departed as far back as 2007. Here's the evidence:

    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/arch...p/t-79262.html

I guess its just a Mavs fan thing. They all cling together. Maybe its just one person? Between Leo and Patton Oswalt, their obsessions are just plain bizzare.
The Departed is one of my all-time favorite movies. Leo was a major reason for that. I'd pay to listen to that guy read the newspaper.

And I'm one of the biggest Mav-haters in Denton. Any OTHER theories?

I liked both the Departed and anic. When I think of the top actors of all time, I wouldnt even consider Leo though.

I consider Johnny Depp top notch right now and have for a very long time. Just watch "Benny And Joon".

I didnt add him to my list cuz I tried to parameterize it somehow.

    Hanks
Jimmy Stewart - I just always liked his acting and consider him worthy.

You dont know the history. Ive been arguing with him, Monos and other Mavs fans about this for YEARS. He just admitted he bought "Revolutionary Road" on DVD and I think he's 19. Thats all the evidence you should need.

As for Hanks, as I pointed out, he's got the trophies and the box office record (no film under 100 million in almost 20 years) to back up his resume. I doubt ANYONE else on the planet can do that. Even still, people like Hoffman, Hackman, DeNiro and Pacino...I would listen to arguments that they deserve a spot more than Hanks because they might be better "Method actors". I just think Hanks make some really great movies.

Glad you also like the money pit. Thats one of my guilty pleasures. My favorite is his reaction when the tub falls through the floor.
Oh MY GOD. When i was a kid we had the money pit on VHS, and that part had my mom and I laughing so hard there was tears numerous times. I love that part, one of the greatest laughs in cinema history. doesn't seem like hanks is universally agreeable in the top 4/5, but I'd say everyone could agree he's definitely top 10 ever. I'd say he's very close to top 5, and with a few more great movies he will be there.

So how long did it take to find this forum? No doubt your "Leo senses" were buzzing of the scale?

Or did Dirk4MVP give you a call?

I also loved when S ey Long admitted to sleeping with the French dude (or so she thought) to Tom Hanks in the middle of the night and he was so tired he basically said "Its okay baby, go back to sleep" and she turns back off the light.

Then five seconds later the light gets turned back on...

    "YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Jimmy Stewart might be the greatest actor of all time. Even with his universal acclaim, he's underrated.

He definitely deserves to be in the mix.

Of american actors, I would say Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Marlon Brando, Rober DeNiro.

Of any nationality, Laurence Olivier, Jimmy Stewart, Marlon Brando, Daniel Day Lewis

If I could pick the four, they would be Olivier, Toshiro Mifune, William Holden, DeNiro.

    In no particular order:
    De Niro
    Brando
    Hanks
DiCaprio (yes, I think he's there already)

Not a huge fan of Nicholson as an actor. I like his movies, but he seems to suffer from Tom Cruise syndrome: he always seems to be himself in movies. Nothing wrong with that, just not enough right with it to get you onto acting's Mt. Rushmore.
