It might not have been their year, but it's the best year of any little league team from San Antonio -- ever. And they'll end up as the 3rd or 4th best little league team in the world, so they've had just an absurdly wonderful tournament run.
Having participated in this little league tournament when I was a kid, I know how difficult it can be to win a district tournament, let alone a sectional tournament, then a state tournament, then a regional tournament, and then a pool at the World Series. That's what this team has done on its way to whatever the ultimate result is -- it's basically what Chula Vista, Chinese Taipei, and Reynosa have done, too -- it's a better year than any of these kids could have reasonably expected when the tournament process started on July 1.
Indeed, the loss to California on Saturday night was the first (and perhaps only) loss that the McAllister Park kids have suffered through 5 tournaments.
Just for the sake of posterity, this is (as best I can tell) what the McAllister Park kids have gotten done since they started playing on July 1

8/8 -- McAllister 12, Oklahoma 1
8/9 -- McAllister 12, Lousiana 3
8/11 -- McAllister 16, Arkansas 1

8/26 -- McAllister 4, Mid-Atlantic (New York) 1

It's a remarkable run, regardless of their ultimate placing.
