Bayless is an undersized two-guard, as is Fernandez, so perhaps this is the break Bayless needs off the bench?

Alan Hahn of Newsday reported overnight that there "are a couple of sign-and-trades still being considered before a one-year deal is negotiated."
New York general manager Donnie Walsh is seriously considering a pair of reasonable trades involving Lee, but there is a possibility that the forward could stay with the Knicks under a one-year deal if neither trade is worked out.
The Blazers are mentioned as a possibility as they nearly made an offer to Lee before they eventually signed Andre Miller. New York would want Rudy Fernandez to be included in any proposed deal.

Fernandez isn't undersized. And David Lee doesn't really give them anything. They already have Lamarcus Aldridge
he'd be great backing LMA tho. he'd be too expensive to bench though

David Lee on the Blazers would equal Joel Przybilla with a 15 foot jump shot.
Prz is a better shot blocker and nearly Lee's equal in rebounding, but Lee actually has some offense. Where would Lee get any minutes if Joel can only get time when Oden is injured?

Pryzbilla is a better rebounder. Lee's rebounding has been exeggerated due to small ball and quick possessions.
why dont they just trade his ass to the warriors? solves both teams needs...

Lee would be fantasitc for the Blazers. don't know why so many people just think in starter and back up categories. the game is played in rotations and a big man rotation of LMA, Lee and Oden looks like a perfectly balanced front court. (assuming that Oden improves and becomes a defensive force)
Lee would also fit perfectly regarding his age. like Roy and LMA he has some experience, but his best years are still ahead. this Blazers core will peak in 2 or 3 years from now, so will Lee.
Lee for Fernandez (plus filler, likely Blake) would also be the best the Knicks could get in this situation. Fernandez is on his rookie contract till 2012 and wouldn't eat much of the 2010 cap space (only 1.2 million). he is a starter quality talent and I'm pretty sure D'Antoni loves his game.
and the players would be happy. Lee could get about the money he was looking for (a trade package of Fernandez and Blake would allow to sign and trade Lee on a 5 years/45 million package) and he would end up with a PO team with a bright future.
Fernandez will be happy, because in Roy's shadow he will never get a role as important as he could get in NY. he will love and flourish in D'Antoni's system. and NY is also significantly closer to home.
IMO both teams would be crazy NOT to do this trade.
Blazers will be better with Lee, considering they added Miller and will get back Webster, they might not have found enough minutes for Blake and Fernandez anyhow.
Knicks would have lost Lee anyhow, because re signing him might destroy the chance to get Lebron 2010. but with Fernandez they get a very nice talent in return. and a player, who could be a perfect compliment to Lebron in the future.
Aldrige and Lee both would demand starter money. With Aldriges extension still pending, he makes around 7.5 Millions this upcoming season. Oden makes around 5.5 Millions and Przybilla makes also around 7.5 Millions. That's already a big-men rotation worth about 20 Millions. If they agree to a sign&trade for Lee, the numbers will go up regardless of Przybillas expiring included in the deal or not. That's a lot of money and the Blazers can do better. They managed to ac ulate a lot of talent and they would be stupid to spend all the money they have on signing hyped players to big multi-year contracts.
Lee would indeed be a nice fit in the rotation. But I think they are better off keeping the money they have and lure a better FA next offseason.
I don't agree. the Blazers took themself out of the 2010 free agency when the signed Miller. even if they didn't re sign Aldridge (what they surly will do) they no longer will have the cap room for a premium free agent. the number I mentioned (5years/45 million, maybe 4 years/ 36 million) is about the same number that was reportedly discussed, when they were pursuing Lee some weeks ago and it's the about the number they had offered Millsap, when the Jazz matched. so, if they were willing to add a player like Millsap to their front court core, why would they hesitate to add Lee, a player they were interested in for quite some time, for similar money? (I would rank Lee and Millsap in the same category regarding talent.)
Przybilla they will likely try to move, when they feel they don't need an injurance for Oden. so it would be like 9 million for Lee instead of 7 million for Przybilla. considering the upgrade in talent, the additional 2 million look like a sensible investment.
True. Although I'd prefer they go after a wing next season or a pg when miller does not turn out to be their missing peace rather than spending +8Millions on David Lee. They can get a decent rotation player for less money.
We would never trade Rudy for Lee. That would make no sense whatsoever.
